Hello, fellow LDS Trivia and Puzzles players: Labor Day is approaching. People take trips for the weekend or even longer. Reservations will be minimal. I am not taking a trip for the entire weekend and want to have a game this weekend. Here are the options using Mountain Daylight Time: Friday evening from 6 PM to 8 PM. Saturday is available by request. Sunday from 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM. Monday from 11 AM to 6 PM. I hope the game will last for four hours. I'll be in the channel during those times and can start a game if one or more players show up. Please reply to this message if anybody wants to set a specific time. If you don't mention a time zone, I'll assume you're in the same time zone as me, Mountain Daylight Time. The last time I tried a game was back in July, and . . . I had computer problems and wasn't able to be on the channel during the time slots I mentioned. I was troubleshooting a software problem and changed Windows to not load most of the startup software. What I didn't know is that my account didn't have the updated password, so I lost access to my computer and had to do a restore. The backup software I was using didn't work. Be sure to back up your system and test it! I will send three random questions on Wednesday night and hope to see players this weekend. See the game's website for information on how to get to the game: https://www.ldstrivia.org

Hello, fellow LDS Trivia and Puzzles players: It's time to make one final game attempt for 2023. Christmas doesn't seem like a time to attempt a game, because it's time to spend with families. New Year's can go either way. I'm not getting any feedback regarding when to have games, so I don't know when to do any. Instead, I'll just set a timeframe that I will be in the chatroom. The next time I'll be in the chatroom will be from 10 AM to 7 PM Mountain Standard Time (MST) on Saturday, December 30. Plan for about four hours. I'll start a game if I get two or more players. The game is on DALnet in channel #lds_trivia. Details on how to get to the game appear on the website. If only one player shows up, we'll either wait for a second player, the player will play against the clock, or I'll play, too. The large number of subscribers I was getting a day dropped to zero. As of Sunday morning, I have 9,513 subscribers with only 137 confirming their subscriptions. That's about 1.5%. Please be sure to confirm your subscription, or you will not receive any emails. I made some adjustments to the game: Increased the clock bonuses when solving the puzzle to 25 and 100 per second from 10 and 50. Increased the extra points for vowels in puzzles to 7,500 from 5,000. Guessing vowels will cost a total of 1,750 points, 500 of which comes from the player's score. Error fixed: Noticed that when players reveal the puzzle before the puzzle clock expires, the entire 1,500 goes to the jackpot. Now, the clock bonus and the 1,500 go to the jackpot. I hope to see at least one of you sometime Saturday. Have a merry Christmas and a happy New Year. Three random questions will now appear only in email messages. I emailed the announcement earlier, but I'm hoping the mailing list program used on the website can send the message to those who sign up and confirm their subscription before the game on Saturday.

Hello, fellow LDS Trivia and Puzzles players: We're finishing October and heading into November. Thanksgiving also happens in November. It's going to be an interesting month. In October, over 3,000 people subscribed to the mailing list; however, only 77 are on the list as of 3:15 PM Mountain Daylight Time on Sunday, October 29th. People are not confirming their subscriptions. I updated the subscriber page. Normally, I would request an appointment to play a game; however, I'm not getting any responses, let alone time suggestions, so I will do something different for November. Because of how busy I am getting through work and an upcoming test on December 5th, I will attempt a game on Saturday, November 18th, between 1 PM and 2 PM Mountain Standard Time. Daylight savings will end next weekend here in the States. This is the weekend before Thanksgiving, too. I will need breaks during my studies. I will send an official announcement on Thursday evening, November 16th. Random questions will appear in the emailed announcement. Players will have over a day to ponder the answers. If/when the game officially starts, players can answer the questions. I will only post the answers in the newsletter sometime after the game finishes. If there's no game, I will not display the answers. Think of it as an incentive to get players. The game takes place over DALnet through IRC. More details on the website. I hope to see you there. 12 Nov 2023 Update: As of about 1 PM Mountain, there are 5,167 subscribers in the mailing list, but only 96 will get messages, because they confirmed their subscriptions. Because of email quotas, I cannot send emails to those who haven't confirmed their subscription another confirmation email. Also, a lot of the confirmation emails bounce back. I cannot send that person a message to say why or how to fix it. Please limit the number of attempts to three. If you still haven't received a confirmation message by then, assume the email address you entered doesn't work and try a different one. Make sure you entered the correct email address, because I get a lot that bounce back due to the address not existing. One person tried signing up with the same AT&T text email address more than 10 times, and it bounced back each time. For those who cannot make it, please reply to this email to let me know when in December may work for you to play, and I hope we can set an appointment. Bear in mind that I won't be available until after the seventh. I will send one more email on Thursday evening with three completely random questions and will give more details then. I hope to see you then. (The questions will only go out in an email.) Jeremy

Hello, fellow LDS Trivia and Puzzles player(s): I haven't tried anything since the end of May for a June game, but I want to try once a month to schedule a game. What will be difficult is finding a time when players are available. Instead of setting a specific time or range of times, I'm trying appointments. After scheduling a time, I will send a notification as soon as possible. I will send three random questions the day before the game's scheduled time. The goal is to complete a game in less than four hours; however, this is not set in stone. A partial game is better than no game. Here are my available times to set up and play a game: Friday evening, starting between 7 PM and 8 PM All day Saturday Sunday between 1:30 PM and 6 PM All times are Mountain Daylight Time (MDT). Be sure to specify the time zone; otherwise, I will assume it's MDT. For those outside the United States and Canada, compare your time zone with Boise, Idaho, in the United States. To schedule a time, reply to this post. Please help spread the word about the game and tell people you know. Also, tell them that they do not have to be members to play. The game's website is here. (Edit: Added website.)

Hello, Fellow LDS Trivia and Puzzles Players: June is coming up, and I haven't tried to get a game going since moving to Idaho. Yes, I made announcements and even made changes to the game, but I haven't really tried to get a game going. The problem is that I work two jobs, so I'm not sure when a good time would be. So instead of trying to set times, I'm going to try appointments that will allow me to adjust my work times. Fortunately, my second job is very flexible. Remember that I am on Mountain Daylight Time here in the United States. For those outside the US and Canada, compare your current time to Boise, Idaho. Here are some available start times throughout the week: Tuesday through Friday night from about 6 PM to 7 PM Saturday from about 8 AM to 7 PM Sunday from about 4 PM to 7 PM I will not have games on Monday night due to Family Home Evening. The goal is to complete a game in four hours, and the games are live. The computer and I will choose questions, puzzles, and scrambles randomly, so I will not know what will appear beforehand. Reply to this post to let me know of possible dates and times to set up. Please help spread the word. (Edit: Added bullet points.)

Hello, fellow LDS Trivia and Puzzles players: It's been almost two months since the last attempt at a game. I figure the fourth of July is the perfect day to try for a game. It's a day off for me, and fireworks don't start until later. (This ignores the early shooters.) Today's game will start between 11 AM and 6 PM Pacific Daylight Time. Compare your time zone with Seattle, Washington. The start time depends on when players enter the channel. Once again, the game takes place on channel #lds_trivia on DALnet. See the website for information on how to connect. Please ask in the comments if you have any questions about how to get to the game. I hope to see you all there. Due to lack of advance notice, there are no pre-game questions.

Hello, fellow LDS Trivia and Puzzles players: Last week was Mother's Day, which I totally forgot about until after posting the last upcoming game. Oh, well. This is the last attempt for this month. I hope to have a game this weekend: Saturday, 14 May: 9 AM to 7 PM Sunday, 15 May: 3:30 PM to 7 PM All times are Pacific Daylight Time. Compare your time zone with Seattle, Washington. The game is on DALnet over IRC in channel #lds_trivia. (Don't forget the underscore.) See the website for information on how to connect: HTTP://www.ldstrivia.org/. Now, a brief update on game updates: I believe I got the script fixed to allow fast-paced play. I'll only stop play to fix a bug if it's major. I changed the point values of letters based on the probability of their appearance. Scrabble has a limited number of tiles, but this game has no limit on the number of letters. I also instituted a minimum value of 100 points for consonants instead of 50. This changed the value of word scrambles, so I had to adjust calculating their value. This allowed me to add over 100 scrambles marked not usable. I don't know how many are now NOT usable. I'll make additional adjustments after analyzing the changes. During the bonus round, there's now time added for each question based on the same pause when displaying questions. Unfortunately, this gives players a chance to answer early, so I'm placing a minimum of one second per question. The reason for this is to encourage players to read the question. The script now selects a random player if no player is in control before a speed round. It will, also, select a player instead of doing additional scrambles. There's more posted on the website. Here are three random questions: According to the Bible Dictionary, what two books give the best "commentary and guide to understanding Isaiah?" A) Doctrine and Covenants, B) Book of Mormon, C) Pearl of Great Price, or D) Old Testament Student Manual: Kings to Malachi? Old Testament: Based on references, the Bible Dictionary says Hosea "deeply influenced" which "succeeding writers?" A) Ezekiel, B) Nahum, C) Micah, D) Elisha, E) Elijah, F) Amos, G) Jonah, H) Isaiah, I) Jeremiah, J) Obadiah, K) Joel, and L) Hosea. Church History: Joseph Smith returned to work after three visits from Moroni. What happened? Rack your brains to come up with the answer and even look them up. Do not submit answers to me until the beginning of the game. Any other method of submitting answers other than just before the game start will not count. I will only post the answers in the newsletter sent sometime after a game session. I hope to see you there. Remember that the gospel is true. (Edit/Add-on: If anyone has any trouble signing up for the mailing lists on the site, please let me know. Please include details as to the problem.)

Hello, fellow LDS Trivia and Puzzles players: New Year's is a great day to have a game. This is the last attempt of 2021. Unfortunately, due to bad weather, it looks like I won't get to see my family this year. It snowed Christmas and is still on the ground. The best time for a game is tonight, but there's an opportunity to have one all weekend. The following list has available time slots: Tonight from about 5:30 PM to 9 PM. Saturday and Sunday from about noon to 9 PM. (I'm assuming leaders will cancel church due to bad weather. I'm also not 100% well.) All times are Pacific Standard Time. Hopefully, the game will be between three and four hours total. When looking up time zone differences, compare your time with Seattle, Washington, USA. If you want to play but aren't able to make it, please schedule a time. I am available nights from about 6 PM to 7 PM and throughout weekends. Please contact me with times you have available, and I hope we can set something up. As always, the game takes place on DALnet in channel #lds_trivia. Be sure to include the underscore, or you'll show up at the wrong location. You'll know you're in the right place when you see a topic that says when the next game is. More information on the game's website. I performed a three-player script test with an emphasis on testing the script detecting idle players and made some script changes that I can't remember. More details on the website. Finally, here are three random questions: Book of Mormon: King Lamoni offered Ammon anything for knowledge of how he defended his flocks. What was Ammon's response? A) for Lamoni to listen to his answer, B) to go with him back to Ammon's people, C) to allow him to marry one of his daughters, or D) to allow Ammon to baptize him? Old Testament: Genesis is a word from what language and with what meaning? A) Hebrew, B) arrival, C) end, D) Latin, E) origin, F) Arabic, G) Greek, and H) departure. Church History: On the third visit from Moroni on the night of September 21, 1823, Moroni cautioned Joseph as to what Satan would try to do and forbade him from it. What was Satan going to try to do? I hope to see you at the game.

Hello, fellow LDS Trivia and Puzzles players: This is Thanksgiving weekend. Plans to meet with the family will be Christmas and New Year's for me, and I have today, Friday, off, so I hope to have a game this weekend: Today, Friday, 26 Nov: 1 PM to 8 PM. Tomorrow, Saturday, 27 Nov: 12 PM to 8 PM. Sunday, 28 Nov: 1:30 PM to 7 PM. All times are Pacific Standard Time. Hopefully, the game will be between three and four hours total. When looking up time zone differences, compare your time with Seattle, Washington, USA. Looks like this will be the last attempt of November. December will probably be the second weekend. I'll post a definite time slot then. If you want to play but aren't able to make it, please schedule a time. I am available nights from about 6 PM to 7 PM and all throughout weekends. As for updates, I made some changes recently, and I won't cover them all here. (I didn't even cover them all on the News and Updates page, but I digress.) I added a bonus clock for speed rounds, selecting the next category and level, and letter guesses. After a successful guess and selection, the player earns one point per second left on the clock. It's not much, but it's better than nothing. For speed rounds, any time left after solving the puzzle goes to the jackpot. Each question asked adds 100 points to the jackpot. Revealing the entire puzzle still automatically solves it; however, the 5,000 points will now go to the jackpot instead of each player not idling. There's no competitive advantage to having each player get points, so the jackpot is perfect for determining who gets those points. The jackpot now starts at 1,000 points per player at the time of the reset, not counting idle players. The quick reason is to allow players to earn more points from answering questions and solving puzzles. I lowered most delays by one second. I was getting impatient during script tests while waiting for updated puzzles and other information. Finally, I'm going to include three random questions: Church History: Joseph Smith, Jr.'s, siblings consisted of how many people, including his parents and those that passed away? Why were Lucifer and his followers allowed to come to Earth instead of sent to outer darkness? Book of Mormon: Nephi went to Laban's treasury, and he saw Laban’s servant. Why did Laban’s servant think Nephi was Laban? I hope to see you at the game.

Hello, fellow LDS Trivia and Puzzles players: I'm hoping to have a game this weekend with three possible time slots. Remember that all times are Pacific Standard Time. For those outside the United States and Canada, compare your time zone to Seattle, Washington. (I'm not sure how Mexico names its time zones, but I believe Canada uses the same as the US.) The first one will be Friday night between 7 PM and 8 PM. Please schedule four hours, but I'm hoping it will be three. Since the game is live, I cannot guarantee how long it will be. The second one will be between 11 AM and 7 PM on Saturday. The third one will be between 1:30 PM and 7 PM on Sunday. Now, if you want to play but am unable to attend at those times, please comment on this post and give me some options. I will choose one if I am available for any of them. If not, I will say what times I am available. I'm available nights around 6:30 PM and, pretty much, all day Saturday. Church is at 10:30 AM and lasts about two hours. The game is over DALnet in channel #lds_trivia. Please see the website for information on how to get there. I'm going to ask three random questions. Rack your brain and get the answers, including looking them up. Put your answers in a text file and submit them when prompted at the game. Use one line per question, preferably in the order asked. Old Testament: When Moses counted the Israelites in the plains of Moab, how many were in the tribe of Gad? A) 22,200; B) 32,500; C) 40,500; or D) 52,700? Church History: The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square competed in the Eisteddfod singing competition in 1893 and was awarded what place? Church History: How many times did Moroni appear to Joseph Smith over the night of September 21, 1823? A) two, B) three, or C) four? I hope to see you there. (Thank you to the admins for letting me post these. I do this for fun.)

It has been a while since I tried a game of LDS Trivia and Puzzles, so this weekend is the time: tonight, which is Friday, between 6:30 PM and 8:00 PM; tomorrow all day from 10 AM to 7 PM; and Sunday from 1:30 PM to 7:30 PM. All times are Pacific Daylight Time (PDT). For those outside North America, compare your time zone with Seattle, Washington. There will only be one session this weekend, so I'll post again when a session completes. The game is on DALnet in channel #lds_trivia. Please see the website for more information on how to get to the game. I don't believe I have anybody signed up for the notify list or newsletter at the time of writing this, so I'm going to post three random questions here. Rack your brains to get the answers but do not send me the answers until prompted in the channel when the game starts. I will post the answers in the newsletter after a game,. Good luck. See you there. Book of Mormon: True or false? A man tries to take revenge on Ammon for killing his brother during Ammon's defending of king Lamoni's flocks. As the guy lifted his sword to kill Ammon while on the floor, the guy dropped dead instantly. Old Testament: According to the Bible Dictionary, the book of Judges gives a history of how many judges? Old Testament: "And shall (blank) and not be weary, and shall walk and not faint." A) Walk, B) run, C) stand, or D) jog?

Hello, fellow LDS Trivia and Puzzle players: (First, thanks to the admins for letting me post these. It's difficult to find players these days.) It's been a while since I last tried to have a game, which was back in April. I have made some changes since then, and I'll go over those in a moment. Even though it's the fourth of July here in the states, I'm hoping to have a game either today or tomorrow. For today, a game can start anytime between 3 PM and 8 PM Pacific Daylight Time. For tomorrow, I hope to have one between 10 AM and 3 PM. Tomorrow is Family Home Evening, so I don't want the game to go over to interfere with that. If there's confusion as to when that occurs in your time zone, compare your time with Seattle, Washington, and adjust times accordingly. The game is still on the DALnet IRC network in channel #lds_trivia. More information is on the website, including methods of accessing IRC. If I included all updates to the game, this post will get long fast, so I'll present a summary with more information on the website: Puzzles and word scrambles now have rules regarding length. Word scrambles will not contain more than three words, and puzzles will have a minimum of four words, ignoring conjunctions, articles, and most small prepositions. I have a list of words that do not count to create consistency. I increased and changed puzzle values. Puzzle values now start at 6,500, 250 for each letter in the alphabet, and I increased vowels to 1,000. Values decrease with each letter guessed and revealed. Word scrambles can now be questions. Rules for scrambles and questions combine. All scrambles are level three with no category appearing in the question itself. I added rules in case I make a mistake, which can happen. There are five scenarios I made rules for. Since the game is live, anything and everything can go wrong, but I hope to keep that to a minimum. Finally, I adjusted the bonus round. I decreased the time added for levels five to eight to the same pause used when asking a question in the regular game. Additionally, if someone gets a level eight question right, they'll earn 1,250 points and go back to level one. I fixed some bugs and found more and probably created some when trying to fix some. I hope to see you there.

Hello, fellow players: It's the last few days of the month, and I haven't tried a game session, so I hope to have one this week. Here are some available times for the upcoming week: Today: between 2 pm and 7 pm Pacific Daylight Time. Monday: an appointment between 6:30 pm and 8 pm. Tuesday through Friday: between 6:30 pm and 8 pm. I work until five, and I want to make sure I get home with time to eat and get ready. (I also work late to make up late starts and extended lunches when applicable.) Saturday: between noon and 8 pm. I will post this once and then post when a game happens, because there's only one session. Feel free to set an appointment for any of those time slots. Once again, the game is on DALnet in channel #lds_trivia. Please see the website for information on how to get to the game and the rules. I hope to see you there.

Hello, potential LDS Trivia and Puzzles players: Wow, my last post was in November. Anyway, it's been a while since I tried to have a game. Life gets in the way [smile]. There will be two possible game sessions: Friday, Mar 12, between 6:30 PM and 8 PM Pacific, 9:30 to 11 PM Eastern. I know that's late, especially for the east coast, but I get off work at about five, and I want to be able to get home and be in the channel to wait for players. The second day and time are Saturday between noon and 8 PM Pacific, 3 and 11 PM Eastern. If a game happens Friday night, I'll reply to this post, so people will know that there's no game on Saturday. Remember, I live near Seattle, so use that city to compare time zones. If you want to have a game at a specific time, let's make an appointment. Setting an appointment seems silly, but it allows the possibility of having a time that works for me and you. Please comment on this post with some dates and times for a game, and I'll reply with what works for me, and then we can pick a day and time. Oh, if you don't specify a time zone, I will assume my time zone, which is Pacific in North America. As a reminder, the game takes place on DALnet in channel #lds_trivia. Please see the website for more information on the game and how to get to it. I hope to see you there.

Okay, it's time to try for a game this week for the month of October: Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday from 4 PM to 8 PM Pacific Daylight Time. If no games happen on any of those days, there's one final one in October on Saturday, but the earliest start time is 5:30 PM instead of four. I will post if a game happens. Once again, the game is through IRC on DALnet in channel #lds_trivia. Please see the website for information on how to get there and how to play the game. Please help by spreading the word. I want some players, please.
-
Hello, fellow LDS Trivia and Puzzles players: I've been working on more questions for the game, and I've updated the website, especially visually. Even I had difficulty reading the website. I hope it's better. I hope to have a game this weekend. This time, I won't specify a time; I'll specify a range. Saturday, 6 pm to 9 pm PDT. Sunday, between noon and eight pm PDT. I'll post if a game happens. Contact me to set a time. Please see the website for instructions on how to get to the game. There are many different methods to connect to the game, but I only cover four on the site. If you need help connecting, use the email address on the website to contact me, or reply to this post. Make sure to be as specific as possible for me to help you best. I'm also going to post three random questions here. Normally, it's for the notify list, but nobody signed up for it. Find the answers but make sure to not send me the answers. Players will get a chance to answer when the game starts. Book of Mormon: King Lamoni's servants just told Lamoni of how Ammon defended the king's flocks. What did Lamoni think of Ammon? Ammon was A) evil, B) the Great Spirit, C) the Almighty, or D) going to kill him? Old Testament: How long did Shamgar overcome the Philistines? Church History: Moroni appeared to Joseph Smith and told him about a book. Furthermore, he was instructed to not show it to anyone, except those he was told to. What would have happened if Joseph showed them to people unauthorized? I will post the answers in a newsletter that I will send out after the game.

Hello, fellow LDS Trivia and Puzzles players: This crisis is draining, but we'll get through it with an adjusted normal returning. Hang in there. It's difficult to determine an exact time to hold a trivia game. Personally, Sunday is the perfect day, but games can occur on other days of the week. Monday is Family Home Evening, and people also work during the day. When I first did this over 20 years ago, it was a Friday evening and other days I can't remember. Having said that, I'll try having people contact me on when to have a game. It may seem silly to schedule an appointment for a trivia game, but that may be what it takes to get games going. Reply to this post with days and times that work well for you. When requesting times, it's best to put your time zone, and I can adjust it to match; however, if there's no time zone specified, I'll assume it's my time, which is PDT (Pacific Daylight Time). For those outside the United States and Canada, please give me the nearest major city in your country in the same time zone. This allows me to look up how it differs from mine and adjust it. Now, something else to consider is that trivia games can be more fun with more than one player. If possible, gather as many people as possible and share this post, too. The last game I had a game was back in August of 2018. One person came to play and then found someone else to play with him. Actually, he found two with one leaving early. The game still takes place on channel #lds_trivia on DALnet, an Internet Relay Chat network that's been around since the 1990s and the location of the first version of this game. Please see the website for more details. One thing I will do is hang out in the channel when I'm available. If someone comes, I can start a game on the fly. Finally, as for updates, I did a lot of work on the website and some aspects of the game. I even worked on updating the script for my mailing list and tested it by signing up. It works. If it doesn't, let me know with as much information as possible. Worst case scenario, I can sign you up manually when you send me an email.
-
Hello, fellow LDS Trivia and Puzzles players: Today, I worked on the website, including changing the graphics and increasing the font size. I even made sure subscribing to the mailing lists works by signing up myself. I hope to have a game this week, but the trouble is determining a time. I hope to keep it simple. If I'm available, I'll hang out in the channel. Remember that I'm on Pacific Daylight Time. If people show up on DALnet in channel #lds_trivia, I can start a game. I have appointments tomorrow, and it's Family Home Evening, so there won't be a game. Tuesday is open right now, but I may get called to work. Stop by when you're available, and I hope to be there when you do.
-
Hello, fellow LDS Trivia and Puzzles players: I tested the script as much as possible, but I am thinking of adding a random aspect to a question's point value. After testing the random bonuses, I liked that the point values weren't always divisible by 50. I'm mentioning this in case anyone had thoughts about that. Anyway, I still don't have a main job, and I am on call at my second job. Each day, I'll hang out on DALnet in channel #lds_trivia. If any people show up, I'll start a game. There will only be one game this week if one happens, but you're welcome to hang out in the channel. Anyway, see the website for more information on how to get to the game.
-
Hello, fellow trivia players: For the past week or so, I made some changes to the LDS Trivia and Puzzles game, and I want to have a full game before the quarantine ends. I don't work tomorrow, so for those that are able, a game will start anytime between 1 PM and 7 PM. It's on DALnet in channel #lds_trivia. Please see website for more information. I only have one job while looking for a replacement to my main job, so I'm on call at work in case they need me. If you go to the channel and not see me there, they called me for work. The updates to the script are too numerous for me to remember, and they're minor tweaks. I changed how information appears, tweaked the code to be more efficient, and removed bugs.
-
Hello, fellow trivia players: I hope to have a session of LDS Trivia and Puzzles tomorrow evening at 6:30 PM Pacific Daylight Time, 9:30 PM Eastern. It's in the same place as before: #lds_trivia on DALnet. If I don't have a game then, I hope to have one Sunday at around 1 PM Pacific Daylight Time, 4 PM Eastern. See you then. I made some updates to the game and even the script. Here are some highlights: I increased the random level bonus from 50 points to 25%, added a 10% bonus for random category, and 40% for both. I hope this gives players an incentive to try those. It adds more difficulty. Decreased educated guess points from one-fifth to one-tenth. Some of those questions are hard to guess, and I want to give bigger incentives when players get them right. Did a major update to the full rules page on the website. Please let me know if you try to sign up for mailing lists and are unable to do so. I don't know if they work or not, because no one has signed up.
-
Hello, fellow players: I'll try again to have an LDS Trivia and Puzzles game at 1 PM Pacific, 4 PM Eastern. It's through DALnet in the channel #lds_trivia. For more information, see the game's website. (It doesn't post until you click the button to post. Oops.)

I should have posted this yesterday or the day before or something. Oh, well. Anyway, how about I try again to have an LDS Trivia and Puzzles Game online this week? I'll put the official start time at 12:30 PM Pacific, 3:30 PM Eastern, but I can start it as late as 6:00 PM Pacific. Let's have some fun. See the game's website for more information. There wasn't a game last week, and it was a good thing. I had some bugs in the script that I fixed. I don't want to have players waiting while I debugged the script.

Hello, everyone. I know it's been a while since the last attempt to have a game of LDS Trivia and Puzzles. I work six days a week, which means I couldn't decide on when to have a trivia game. However, . . . since the church suspended services, I think tomorrow (Sunday) is a great day to have a trivia game. It's going to be earlier than usual: 1 PM Pacific, 4 PM Eastern. It will be in the same place as before: #lds_trivia on DALnet. See the game's website. The game can start late but must start before 5:30 PM due to waking up early for work Monday. If you are outside the states and want to play, I suggest looking up the time in Seattle compared to where you're located. We are in daylight savings, but not everyone participates. I have worked on many changes since the last game. I won't go through them here, but they're on the game's website.

Hello, potential trivia players: There's illness abound in my area, and since I couldn't go to church today, I thought it great to host a game of LDS Trivia and Puzzles. I am in the #lds_trivia channel on DALnet through IRC for a game until about 7 PM Pacific. I'm going to script test and play until one or more shows up to play. I made many changes since the last post, so I thought I would go over a few of them: Increased point values for puzzles. The objective is for players to solve the puzzle as fast as possible. The value still decreases with each letter revealed. Further, its value appears in the channel, so players can see how it decreases. Increased point values for questions. Having two... point values for level one questions weren't enough, because it's difficult to ascertain toughness. Players' scores appear as the game progresses, allowing them to see how they're doing. When awarding points for questions, players' scores display after awarding all points to avoid confusion. Word scrambles now have two hints at the 40 and 20-second mark. The script will show the first letter of each word, and then display a hint to help people solve them. Revamped jackpot to give more entries based on question point values with a greater chance for the player that posts first. Added Scripture category. If players can find the answer in any of the standard works, it appears. Finally, I reset the stats page to allow a new accrual of high scores after moving the current one to the end of its page.
