On the same note, there is a rumor floating in my area that a Joseph Smith movie is being made by the same guy that did God's Army and that Val Kilmer is playing Joseph Smith. I'm still researching the validity of it though.

Yes and no.

Richard Dutcher is making the film but last I heard, Val Kilmer was out or had declined:

The following statement is not meant to challenge you or anything, just the last clip I read about things was that Val was on board and just waiting for Richard to get the 10 mil needed.

As far as lusting after Joseph Smith, I can understand the moral dilemma for woman...hahahahahha....but honestly, I checked it out, and with the right hair, Val would make an awesome Joseph Smith. I just can't find who is playing Porter Rockwell(c'mon people, you knew it was coming)...my vote is Robert Duvall...and if you have seen Open Range(I've cut out rated R movies as of late so no chastening needed) you know what I mean.

Porter,

It's no challenge. I really don't know anything special, just stuff I've read.

For the part of Rockwell, I was think someone a bit more cerebral... may the guy that plays Dr. Niles Crane on Fraiser...

Somehow his effeminite presence just doesn't carry the same "Destroying Angel" mentality. When I look at Niles I think "Decorating Angel"...here's and idea, I SHOULD BE IT!!! HAHAHAHA, course you would need a makeup artist that could transform me from a 21 year old to that of about 48. Seriously, I wish someone would step up and fund this thing, we need more church entertainment, that 1844 looks great and I love the music so far. Worldly entertainment is getting so dirty and worthless. Instead of watching TV, or throwing a DVD in I started reading The Way to Perfection by Joseph Fielding Smith and in the same amount of time I usually watch TV at night I got like half way through it. Should be able to finish that and Gospel Doctrine By Joseph F. Smith by the end of the week. Have you read those Snow??? There pretty good. Not exactly Articles of Faith or Jesus the Christ. But great reading nonetheless.

Here are some upcoming films.

God's Army 2: States of Grace: sequel to "God's Army" written and directed by Richard Dutcher; produced by Jeff Chamberlain and Stin Hansen; shot in Los Angeles beginning January 2004; now in post-production; cinematography by Ken Glassing ("God's Army"); theatrical release in 2004; starring a newcomer in the central part as a Hispanic missionary called to Los Angeles; starring Rachel Emmers ("Sons of Provo", "Out of Step"); Allison Evans; Lucas Fleischer; Brett Granstaff; Jo-sei Ikeda; Allen Maldonado; Christian Redd; Ignacio Serricchio. Funded largely by Utah Jazz owner Larry H. Miller; budget considerably under $1 million; story: a missionary's checkererd past past catches up with him as he and his companion are drawn against their will into an L.A. gang war; religious groups other than Latter-day Saints factor prominently into the storyline, and are positively portrayed; filming began January 15th, 2004; late 2004 release planned

Anxiously Engaged: events surrounding a temple wedding and a 30-year-old single Latter-day Saint woman; written by Matthew Ball and Mark Greenhalgh; exec. producer Shane Kester; shades of "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" and "Bridget Jones's Diary"; 2004 theatrical release planned

Saturday's Warrior: big-screen adaptation of most popular LDS stage musical ever; produced by original playwright Doug Stewart; written and co-directed by Elizabeth J. Hansen ("Eliza & I", "The Sisters of Bethany", "Wind River"); cinematographer and co-director: T.C. Christensen ("A Pioneer Miracle", "Bug Off!"); composer: Lex de Azevedo; production manager: Steve Lee (producer/director of "Empower Yourself"; line producer/production manager for Groberg's "American Prophet: The Story of Joseph Smith", Dutcher's "The Prophet"); in pre-production; open auditions will be held; filming to begin October 2003; theatrical release planned for 2004

Smart Single Guys: comedy written and directed by Tony Gunn, an adaptation of his successful play (all performances at BYU in Fall 2003 were completely sold out); this will be Gunn's first feature film; Synopsis: They're straight-A students. They're bright and talented. They're good looking. They're charming. They're RMs. And they don't have a clue about women. This original work is a biting satire that examines the complicated world of BYU romance. Bring a date and be glad you're not dating a boy named Rebecca, a clueless avant-garde film director wanna-be, or a self-righteous brownie baker, in a world where the only one who can get a girl is a nerd with his head stuck in a box full of Styrofoam peanuts.

I just checked and apparently I don't have them so I must not have read them. Hope you enjoy them.

You know Porter Rockwell was only 30 or 31 in 1844.
