Just a couple of questions regarding the tithing slips and how to fill them in.

right, sorry if this is put in a confusing way but I really need help I have been shown by the missionaries how to fill it in vaguely...The top part is pretty easy. So when we get to the bit that says Tithing I write down how much I am giving, correct? and then next to fast offering I put in the amount I am giving, yes? Then the next bit is where I am confused...the list of things I can donate money to help with, is this again seperate from my tithings or is it where I want my tithings to go? for example if I pay my tithings every two weeks and my 10% of that 2 weeks is £40 I could break down the £40 and give £10 to say temple construction £10 to ward missionary and £20 to humanitarian aid...is that right or wrong? I am soooo confused and just want clarity.

Also is paying my tithes 2 weekly ok? as this is when I get my income.

Thanks Alicia.

P.S forgive me if it takes a while to understand what I mean.

Hiya Alicia,

I understand what you mean :)

The other boxes underneath the 'Tithing' and 'Fast Offering' boxes on the slip are things you can donate to separately.

If your tithing is £40 then you put £40 in the 'Tithing' box and then you add your Fast Offering donation to the 'Fast Offering' box and add up the total in the 'Total' box at the bottom and tick whether it's cash or cheque.

And yes, it is completely fine to pay every two weeks. Some pay every week or even once a year!

Hope that helps

I totally agree with what smilingredhead has said...

Also when it comes to how when you pay your tithing... Best to do what works best for you...

I had a job once where I got paid weekly... I would just put the 10% aside & pay it once a month... Mainly because that way worked better for me personally...

I pay my tithing monthly as well, for a couple of reasons. I get paid semi-monthly, but my house payment eats up enough of my first paycheck that there isn't enough left to cover the tithing. So I pay the house payment with the first check of every month and the tithing with the second. I've also delayed paying my tithing a couple of times as a student when tuition bills were due and I didn't have the fundage for both. After paying the tuition, I paid the tithing the very next pay check. Criticize my choices if you will, but before I wrote the checks, I always wrote down where the next tithing check would come from and made sure I could cover it.

Also, the boxes in bold on the tithing slip (Tithing and Fast Offering) are the only ones the Church expects. The unbolded ones are purely optional.

I have to pay my tithing when I get my checks, which is every 2 weeks, otherwise I'd forget if I paid it or not. SO like the others have said, whatever works best for you.

Thankyou all so much for your replies it helps a great deal. so the other options that are not in bold are things i can donate to seperately if I have the money spare?
