I had a question regarding Tithing and activity status in the church. If you don't pay tithing but go to church weekly are you considered active? I haven't been able to pay a tithing for a long time, but I have been going to church almost weekly. Does that make me inactive?:(

The definition of 'active' that I've worked with in most units has been 'attending at least half of regular Sunday meetings.' I think the origin of that definition was from an old version of the Membership Progress Report. I couldn't say if it is still phrased like that these days.

OK good. I am trying to work getting my wife to approve a monthly Tithe. I am glad that I am considered active then. I am sure that I have to pay a Tithe to receive the Melchizedek priesthood. Thanks for the answers.... :)

I think Attendance is a key part of Activity, however there are a number of factors. The bottom line is how do you feel about your level of activity. There are only a few people that can truly answer that question. You, the Lord and your Bishop can help as well. I suggest that you should meet with him. The Bottom line is, so called "Activity" is only a loose way of categorizing those who are slipping or falling away from the church. So the Question is are you slipping away or are you growing closer to the Lord and his church?

There is no one who would know if your are or are not paying your tithing with the exception of the Bishop and his councilors. So unless you tell someone they would not know to deem you as less active or active, based on that criteria.

I think the hart of the question has more to do with... Can I still get into the Kingdom of Heaven if I have not payed my tithing. All judgments are the Lords to make, however keep in mind he has set the standers for entering his holly house. A temple recommend is a very good tool to help us personal judge our progress to heaven. Being worthy to have a recommend and go to the temple and then over time see your growth in the questions asked... re testimony and personal adherence to Gods Laws. As you renew your Temple Recommend... it can be a beromiter for seeing growth and improvment in our lives as will as areas needing more attention.

The bottom line is... you really need to talk to your Bishop and ask him this Question!

Best of luck and may God bless your and your family!
