Matthew 27:3

3 ΒΆ Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,

I'm curious what does everyone think of this verse? To me it seems like Judas did repent, I could be wrong though.

1) None of the Apostles except Peter "really" knew who Jesus was.

Peter was the first Apostle who heard the Father in heart concerning the true identity of Jesus.

John is pretty insistent that it was he, John, who first knew. From his account, it's a little hard to not wonder if it wasn't Mary Magdalene.

He felt bad...repented to himself even...but refused to humble himself before God. Instead, he killed himself...the ultimate rebellion.

BTW, I do not judge every suicide...but it seems that in Judas' case, Scripture indicates his damnation.

Doesn't Acts say that he tripped and fell on a rock that split his guts open?

I dunno, perhaps he hung himself, the rope broke and then said gut spilling happened.

He hung himself, I think that comes up in verse 5 or 4.

Another good question to ask -- with LDS beliefs in perspective -- did Judas agree to his task in the pre-mortal? Much like the 'serpent' was put in the 'garden' intentionally. Could this be the same?

It was prophesied that one would betray Christ. The question in my mind is.. was Judas already a son of perdition?

It's just speculation.. but why would Heavenly Father 'force' one of his children with infinite potential to do such a deed? It seems more likely to me that Judas was a 'previously damned soul'.
