I'm Interested.

So.... I would like to say I respect the fact that Mormons are around me and that I live with Mormon neighbors. I like to see them....

What in the world, though, are the Terrestrial, and Tellestial, and Celestial Heavens? I had an explanation from someone not too long ago, but I crave depth within those explanations.

What are some descriptions of these great places?

Doctrine and Covenants 76 explains the three kingdoms in some detail.

Jesus told his apostles that there are "many mansions" in God's house, which he is preparing for us. As all are not spiritually equal, God provides the amount of salvation that each is willing and able to receive. Paul mentions knowing a man who went to the third heaven (2 Corinthians 12:1-4).

After death, our bodies go to the grave and our spirits go to the Spirit World. There are two parts to the Spirit World: paradise and spirit prison. You'll note in the quote from Paul that he knew someone who also went to paradise - separate from the final heavens. And Jesus told the thief on the cross that he would be with him that day in paradise, or the Spirit World.

Paradise is for those righteous who await the resurrection. Spirit Prison is where the wicked will suffer and pay for any sins they have refused to repent of. It is also a place where the gospel is preached, to give individuals one last chance at turning their lives around, and embrace Christ and the fullness of his gospel.

The kingdoms consist of the Celestial: where God and Christ dwell with those who have been "valiant" in their testimonies of Christ. These have overcome all things through faith in Christ.

The Terrestrial kingdom is where the honorable men of the earth shall go. These had a testimony of Christ and did some good things in life, but were not valiant in their testimonies, and did not seek Christ with all their hearts.

The Telestial kingdom is reserved for those who barely escape eternal hell (aka Outer Darkness). These will have suffered in the Spirit World for their sins, but because of some repentance and faith, will be saved in the end.

All of these are kingdoms of heaven and glory, though the Celestial is a fullness of God's glory and blessings, with the others offering less.
