HoosierGuy Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 I recorded a General Conference talk broadcast on BYU TV and just watched it. It's with Elder Holland from Nov 2006 General Conference. The more I hear this man speak the more I love him. I loved the following. It hit me right into my soul: LDS.org - Ensign Article - Prophets in the Land Again"To all of you who think you are lost or without hope, or who think you have done too much that was too wrong for too long, to every one of you who worry that you are stranded somewhere on the wintry plains of life and have wrecked your handcart in the process, this conference calls out Jehovah’s unrelenting refrain, “[My] hand is stretched out still.” “I shall lengthen out mine arm unto them,” He said, “[and even if they] deny me; nevertheless, I will be merciful unto them, … if they will repent and come unto me; for mine arm is lengthened out all the day long, saith the Lord God of Hosts.”13 His mercy endureth forever, and His hand is stretched out still. His is the pure love of Christ, the charity that never faileth, that compassion which endures even when all other strength disappears." Many times I think, wrongly, that the problems and depression I'm going thru is unique to me and I'm the only person on earth suffering and crying. I know tho that is wrong. I know others, I guess nearly all, face trials and tribulations and many are much worse off than I am. And what Elder Holland says here is powerful - "To all of you who think you are lost or without hope, or who think you have done too much that was too wrong for too long, to every one of you who worry that you are stranded somewhere on the wintry plains of life and have wrecked your handcart in the process, this conference calls out Jehovah’s unrelenting refrain, “[My] hand is stretched out still." Wow, his words penetrate my heart. One thing I love about all the Apostles and Prophets - they never talk down to people. They never preach to people. They talk eye to eye, directly in front of one and all. They want to uplift one and all. They want to bring us up to a higher level. But they never put us down or insult us. They treat us as respectable human beings. They show love towards us. We are Brothers and Sisters. Elder Holland testifies that President Gordon B. Hinckley is a prophet. I testify that I love all the Apostles and Prophets and know I should try to follow their advice ever second of my life. Quote
