chitchat Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 There is some gadget I've heard about, but I don't know what it is called or where to get one. You grab the bag and press on one end and then on the other. Then you push the air out of the bag and do one last press in the center. Does anyone know what this gadget is called and where to get one? Or is there an easier way to do this? Thanks. Quote
dalepres Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 As I posted on the other thread, Sorbent Systems sells those for about 5 bucks. I wouldn't use one, though, for anything other than resealing an open container for a few weeks until you used it all. The cheapest way, if you can't get hold of a sealer specifically designed for the job, is just use your clothes iron. Use it without steam on the wool setting. Iron until it's sealed, usually 5 seconds or so. You can seal just the last inch of the bag. With the iron, I don't suggest trying to seal less but you should experiment and see what works for you. Worse case, you waste a couple bags learning and then you won't have any trouble after that. Quote
lindapruss Posted November 20, 2010 Report Posted November 20, 2010 i use my iron. you can suck out most air with your vacuum cleaner or as some sites say with a straw...NOT.........if its fine powder cover with paper towels first. I use strong paper Clasps not paper clips to hold close while i iron. I always use absorbers Quote
tittiger Posted March 10, 2011 Report Posted March 10, 2011 You need to use O2 absorbers if you are going to the trouble of using mylar. I use the 1500cc absorbers from sorbent systems for everything. Also the KF-150CST heat sealer Hand held Constant heat sealers is very much worth the money to make sure that you get a good seal.Just my 2 cents worth.Joe Quote
