NightSG Posted May 13, 2015 Report Posted May 13, 2015 (edited) NightSG, you might find it interesting to look into judo, especially if you can find a club that teaches a somewhat more traditional style rather than straight Olympic judo. Only judo dojo within an hour's drive hasn't returned my calls or replied to my emails. The opinion of them among a couple of my aikido classmates wasn't terribly favorable either, and at least one of them is sandan, fairly new to the area and looking for a new dojo. He decided to go with aikido because this was the only class he's seen in the area that does focus on practical application. Well, that, and he said going back to a white belt took a lot of the pressure off him to help with the training until they figured out he's got the smoothest breakfalls in the class. Windseeker Posted May 13, 2015 Report Posted May 13, 2015 I used to practice Sil Lum Gong Fu or Shaolin Kung Fu. I never got that advanced, but I enjoyed it. Here in Florida it's Brazilian Jiu Jitsu on every corner. Both Brazilian Top Team and American Top Team are close. I would really like my son to do Thai boxing..since he's half Thai and I think it's effective. It's really a matter of time. The most convenient place is a Olympic Tae Kwon Do place and I don't really care for that. Quote
