Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player.

I am not sure what the problem could be, but if I remember correctly when I first installed Firefox I had similar problems and had to install some add ons specific to Firefox. You may want to visit the Firefox site and see what plug-ins are available for download for watching videos. Also, if you have Internet Explorer on your computer, try seeing if you can watch videos using that. Just some thoughts.

I am having the exact same problem! It started yesterday. I woke up and my computer was shutting down because it had just installed some updates. Right after that, things were telling me I needed to update Adobe Flash. I have tried 10 times at least and it's still not working. I am getting very frustrated. Also, I'm using Internet Explorer.

I sometimes have problems with Firefox. I've tried doing the plugin things from Mozilla, but without luck. I usually just switch to IE and have no problems.

Ooh! Ooh! Ooh!

I just fixed it for myself and I'm really hoping it will work for you.

Find "Flash" in your C folder.

Right click on it and then click "Run as administrator". It finished installing the program after I did that and it works again!

Ok, try it and see if it works for you. Do you have Vista by chance? I was reading on Adobe help that sometimes there's an issue with Vista and that's what is suggested. I can't believe I got it working again. I was about to give up.

How do i find my C folder?

Try this. Go to start, then click on "computer", click on your C drive, go to your program folder, and then do a search for "Flash". I found a little red icon with an F on it. I right clicked on it and then I clicked on "Run as administrator".

I tried this first:

Download SubInACL from Microsoft to fix permission issues that prevent the Flash Player installation. For instruction on how to run SubInACL to fix these permission issues please refer to "Download SubInACL from Microsoft to fix permission issues that prevent the Flash Player installation" (TechNote fb1634cb).

Didn't work. So then I found this:

Windows Vista installation failure

On some Windows Vista systems Flash Player may be installed, but will not display Flash content. In some cases updating to the latest Flash Player using the included utility can correct the User Account Control settings that cause this problem.

To run the utility, find your installed Flash folder:

  • Right-click C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\FlashUtil9d.exe

The letter changes with each Flash version, so may be "FlashUtilb.exe" or "FlashUtile.exe"

  • Select "Run as Administrator"
  • Follow the steps to complete the Flash Player installation
  • Restart your computer
That did work. It was a little tricky finding it, but once I did and I right clicked on it and clicked on "Run as Administrator", all of the sudden this box popped up saying there was an update ready to be installed, I clicked it, and it finished installing. I was so happy!

Had this problem at work on multiple computers using windows XP and internet explorer 6 and 7. Not had chance to look into exactly what causes it yet, however for us, a hard refresh on the video page normally solves it - I suspect it's actually a problem with youtube and certain versions of flash as I've not come across any other websites that have flash that are affected.

To do a hard refresh, simply load up the page which tells you that you need the latest version of flash player, then press CTRL and F5 on your keyboard at the same time. You may need to do it a couple of times.

Let me know if this works - this solution is particularly likely to solve the problem if some videos on youtube work and others don't.
