rydejacob Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 Hello, I am finding funeral home. So I have some related queries. My question is that what is funeral agreement and who make it? Helps and suggestions please. Quote
pam Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 Not sure I totally understand your question. I have just been through this myself with my father in the last couple of days. Some of the funeral arrangements were made through a funeral home. Any agreement mainly was about cost and some of the services they provide. But we still decide on the funeral itself. Who will speak, who will give prayers etc. Quote
applepansy Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 A funeral agreement entered into by the person prior to death is usually an agreement on price and product. such as; grave site, rent for the building where the funeral is held, the cost of digging the grave, setting the head stone. etc. These plans are usually paid in full prior to the person passing away. A funeral agreement entered into by a family or family member on the part of the deceased includes all of the above. The difference sometimes can be that nothing was planned prior to the death so the family or the deceased's estates pays for it. Either way, the funeral services themselves are up to the deceased IF they left their wishes in writing, or to the family. applepansy Quote

rydejacob Posted April 2, 2009 Author Report Posted April 2, 2009 Hello, Actually my question is, What services are provided by funeral home? How much does a funeral cost? How funeral agreement help in this? Anyways, Thanks for your replies. Quote
pam Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 (edited) I would recommend calling a funeral home and asking them these questions. Cost is based on the amount and type of services you want them to provide. Plus I'm sure would depend on your locality or country. My experience...they are quite expensive. But then again we chose some of the higher quality services (casket, etc). This is in no way meant to brag but my parents could afford it. Plus there is then the cost of the plots in addition to the funeral services themselves. Edited April 2, 2009 by pam Quote
applepansy Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 I agree with Pam. Costs of funeral services vary from region to region, state to state and even more from country to country. The funeral home will know what is required by law also. In Utah bodies must be buried or embalmed within 24 hours. This is a law to prevent disease. I don't know what the laws are elsewhere. Truly the only place to get the answers you need are from a local funeral home. Call several if you don't feel like you're getting the answers you need. applepansy Quote

wonderingme Posted April 8, 2009 Report Posted April 8, 2009 Myself and three of my siblings all used to work for a funeral home. I worked with pre-need counselors. If you would like to make arrangements for an elderly person, just call and tell them that. Certainly make sure to do research on your own but they can give you a great deal of information. A pre-need counselor would be likely to come to your home or have you meet them at the funeral home. The cost of the funeral and burial can vary greatly. You can get a basic lined pine box at several hundred dollars or spend many thousand dollars. They usually create a payment plan. It would be very nice to have arrangements made so that you don't have to do it at such a difficult time. Quote
