More information that could be helpful: Do You Have Swine Flu?

Lol, there is more to that site when you look at the source code (don't ask, it's an annoying habit I have with most websites).

In the meta keywords (what some search engines use to know roughly what the site is about) we have:

<meta name="keywords" content="swine, flu, swine flu, do i have swine flu, do i?, I HAVE SWINE FLU!?, ****!, I'M DEAD!, WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE!, RUN REDDIT! RUN!" />

And in the meta author (supposed to be who designed the page - again, for the benefit of certain search engines) we have:

<meta name="author" content="Pigsy McFlu" />

And then if you follow the CSS code link (basic code used for the layout of the site) we have in a comment at the top:

/*============================================================	Do I Have Swine Flu? YES, you thick *******. You have it.	Notes:	================	By reading this, you're essentially giving yourself Swine Flu. *From Reddit*	================	*Aguyinachair 9 points 1 hour ago:*	*Has Madagascar closed its port?*	================ No, but it doesn't matter. They're already infected. You can blame the rapid spread of the DNS. In This CSS:	================	+SWINE FLU	============================================================ +SWINE FLU	--------------------------------------------- */

I've never received so much information about a website from looking at the source code before :lol:

I find it truly amazing the ammount of hysteria going along with this flu outbreak. Individual schools, or whole school districts closing because of one confirmed case of the flu! Try to find any instance of that during a reguler flu season.

On Wed., based on figures from the CDC I figuered out the percentage of cases in the U.S. It came out to .0000473%. The press is jumping on reports from the W.H.O., but the WHO is always calling for the next health disaster to maintain it's validity, power, and funding.

Everyone needs to sit back, take a break, and really look around them.

Unless the swine flu mutates into something like the 1918 pandemic virus and starts to kill healthy adults, I'm not going to worry. I think the media is blowing this out of proportion, and that fear is much worse than the actual virus.*

Honestly, and I was talking with my Dad about this yesterday, even if it was the 1918 Pandemic all over again I still think the media would find a way of blowing it out of proportion. Me cynical? Perish the thought!

While I too agree that quite a bit of this is being blown out of proportion...it did actually make me stop and think. What if this really was a pandemic? What if entire neighborhoods were quarantined? What if the business I work for (which is with the public) had to be shut down? How would I pay my bills? How would my family eat? For how long?

Bottom line...we don't want to wait for a citywide, nationwide, worldwide pandemic to realize; we need to be prepared. I mentioned this on another thread. I was talking with one of my teenagers about the what ifs. We discussed the importance of having several months worth of food, water, medical supplies, etc on hand. We need to have several months money in savings to pay our monthly bills should we not be able to work. My son said..But mom do you really think you would still have to pay those bills if something happened? My answer..yes.

I have customers all day long. We've talked about the swine flu and how it affects us. Probably 90% of the people I casually spoke with mentioned their fear of being quarantined and not having the financial nor the food storage to survive more than a couple of weeks. Things like this should be another wakeup call. Something like a flu virus could become a major catastrophe.

It's starting to appear like a dry run this time but may mutate over the summer and come back with a vengeance in the fall and winter. Hopefully this has been helpful to get people better prepared for a genuine pandemic should one arrive sometime in the future.
