Is it possible for someone who did receive the Gospel while on earth to inherit the Celestial King..

Yes! Absolutely. The spirit world is a place where the gospel is taught and anyone who didn't get a change to receive the fullness of the gospel on earth will get an opportunity there. The work done in the temple is to help them get necessary saving ordinances so that if they choose to accept the gospel, then nothing will be in the way of receiving the fullest of blessings.

misshalfway got it.

but I have read as well, that if someone on earth had the total opportunity of receiving the gospel, and the Spirit had bore its truthfulness to the person, and they still reject it, they ca accept the gospel in the spirit world, but he wouldn't progress to the celestial kingdom...

maybe someone can clarify that a litle more?

Personally,I think there are alot of cases that seem a litle abnormal, but in the end Jesus Christ will be the Judge, and His judgements will be perfect!

D&C 137:1, 5-9:

1 The heavens were opened upon us, and I beheld the celestial kingdom of God, and the glory thereof, whether in the body or out I cannot tell...

5 I saw Father Adam and Abraham; and my father and my mother; my brother Alvin, that has long since slept;

6 And marveled how it was that he had obtained an inheritance in that kingdom, seeing that he had departed this life before the Lord had set his hand to gather Israel the second time, and had not been baptized for the remission of sins.

7 Thus came the voice of the Lord unto me, saying: All who have died without a knowledge of this gospel, who would have received it if they had been permitted to tarry, shall be heirs of the celestial kingdom of God;

8 Also all that shall die henceforth without a knowledge of it, who would have received it with all their hearts, shall be heirs of that kingdom;

9 For I, the Lord, will judge all men according to their works, according to the desire of their hearts.

Misshalfway and Ezequiel are both right. Ultimately, Christ will judge us according to "[our] works, according to the desire of [our] hearts"- if someone would have lived a celestial life had they learned of the true Gospel while in this life, they will eventually inherit the celestial kingdom. If they would have lived a terrestrial life, they will inherit the terrestrial kingdom, and so forth and so on.

BTW, you might want to change the thread's title- it reads "Is it possible for someone who did receive the Gospel...", not "didn't".

Hi everyone. Is it possible for someone who did not receive the Gospel while on earth to inherit the Celestial kingdom?

No. All the Chinese and Russians and Indians and Afghanis and Pakistanis, and Africans, and just about everybody on earth in previous centuries are plain out of luck. Serves em right - crazy foreigners living in the wrong century. Hrrmph.

What about people who receive the gospel here on earth and then choose to leave the church and do not return? Would it depend on their situation here on earth?

Yep. it always depends.

But if they knew the truth of the Gospel but didn't want to live it, not good for them.
