I’m 61 years old and lived in Arizona for 5 years. I’ve been divorce for 4 years; have no family or friends in this state. I’ve found that people here are stand of ish. I’m retired from my back and need a shoulder operation which the VA will do. I was with the Mormons for about 6 months and on and off for a couple of years. I’m Lutheran and I’ve been depressed here form just plane loneliness. I own my own house and it’s hard to sell now but I was thinking about moving up to Salt Lake City. Would the people be friendlier there? I would like to get close to god before I die and being here, I find it hard. I think I’m looking for a society that I can fit into. Am I barking up the wrong tree or do I have the right idea.

Welcome to the forum golden- people on here have been pretty friendly I think. I just started posting again on this forum after having been away for a little bit.

Sorry to hear how things are going for you here- hope you can find some peace... so have you been to the lds church near to ya recently? By the way, are you in the Phoenix area or somewhere near by? I live in Queen Creek, outside of Queen Creek, in actuality- in Johnson Ranch.

Howdy and welcome to the board; if yer in need of fellowship and great freinds whom will help you with anything you need temporal and spiritual ; get back into the church; if you had a bad experiance; well all i can say is that there are members of every denomination that have issues; This church {l.d.s} is the best thing you could ever do; do not doubt it.:)

If i can help you in any way just let me know?

Hi Golden from a former lutheran. This site is really nice adn you will find many good friends here.

Hmm about utahmormons .... I would not know never been there. I know a couple of nice ones as well as couple of... not so nice ones. So I suppose it really does not matter where you live you will meet both and everywhere.

Ofcourse IF your lifestyle suits a certain ward fex. then that would be a perfect macth, wouldnt it. But I heard it can really crash there too. Best to go first to look around ... and remember people are always inice thowards the visitors.

I know a few that have moved back to their homeland, as they never got trough to the people there... My bestfriends daughter who was babtized just a little while a go has become inactive as she cant find any friends there. And her son whom she wished would get interested in church is not finding LDS friends either.

But one thing is certain in SL area you are closer to the profet and the important people in our religion, but otherways it really dont matter where you live just you are close enough to a ward you like to visit. You know the saints are gathered in their wards and stakes all over the world. Ther eis no ward better or wors ... they all are alike in his eyes.

Go shopping around.. for an LDS it also is good to have a Temple not that far....

I have not regreted on second of my becoming LDS, even though I actually had kind of leading role in Lutheran curch in my congrigation among the youth.
