antsyl, be respectful of everyone's faith and belief. You may disagree but it is rude and presumptuous to say that Mormons are lost or have "scary" beliefs.

I asked a Catholic priest I used to work with what he thought of LDS theology. He said, "Oh, it's incredibly beautiful." By his smile I knew he did not agree with the doctrine. And yet, how true. Whether I agree or not, the idea of eternal marriage, premortal existence, multiple heavenly kingdoms...one has to be without imagination to not at least find such to be intriguing.

Ahhh so young and yet so wise. I remember when I was little like you. I thought my dad was dumb too. Maybe in my next 50 years I will attain as much wisdom as you have shown.

PLEASE!!!

Boring insults aside.. what parts of LDS theology do you disagree with? In detail if you do not mind. I find that's a much more productive way to dig out the trolls.

Oddly enough.. this was my stance on LDS theology not long ago.. ;) If it's not true.. well.. heck, then it should be.

I read the first line and just have to laugh. YOU can PROVE God is wrong???? thats funny

I did not say I can prove God wrong. I said I can prove errors in the Bible.

Bible does not equal God.

The Bible is the inspired word of God, but it has errors. As Prison Chaplain noted, most of them are inconsequential. But there are some that ARE major problems. If God chooses to allow mankind to mess with the Bible a little, who are we to insist God wouldn't do it?

Man makes errors, not God. But God always works through men, who are prone to error. Moses erred on occasion, and was rebuked by God. Jonah tried running away from God, but God still used him. Peter denied Jesus three times, but the Lord still used him. Even later, Peter and Paul had issues with one another, but God still used both of them. Peter would say that Paul's words are hard to understand, and many wrest with his words to their own destruction. But God still used both of them.

Throughout all of this, other people have had a hand in the Bible. Scribes, Pharisees, Translators, and Priests all were involved in transcribing, translating, commenting, interpreting, and choosing which books would end up in our canon. I gave an example concerning the Book of Enoch not being included in the Bible, even though it is quoted 39 times in the New Testament. Either it is inspired and needs to be part of the Bible, or the apostles were wrong to quote Enoch. Which one is it?

And again, whether you agree with the teachings in the Johannine Comma or not, is it, or is it not an interpolation of men?

God inspires men, but if you are going to insist on an infallible Bible that is God Breathed, then it must be able to withstand such scrutiny. And it does not. It DOES however meet with the concept of being inspired, as various prophesies have come to pass, and the teachings of God concerning faith in Christ, repentance, obedience, and righteousness are very important to our salvation.

Chaplin,

I have a high regard for pastors but you frighten me with the things you have said here. If that is what you are passing on to the people you talk to then you will be held to a higher standard and God will deal with you in a much harsher way.

The Bible is the perfect word of God. I am continuously amazed at those who promote such.

I have yet to see you or anyone prove the Bible to be perfect. I agree it is the word of God. Prove that it is "perfect." You can't. You can only give your opinion, which so far has included an unkind attitude towards LDS, and now a Christian pastor. Who are you to judge so harshly? Does your Bible say "Judge not lest ye be judged, unless your name is Antsyl"? Perhaps you need to spend more time studying the Bible, rather than judging others without really knowing what it is you believe?

I've read the New Testament dozens of times, and the Old Testament almost as many times. Have you? I've read many scholarly works concerning the Bible from both LDS and traditional Christian sources. Have you? I'm guessing that beyond a few verses your pastor has taught you, you don't know what is in the Old Testament.

Prison Chaplain is a wonderful pastor to his people. He has spent the time to know the Bible, to prayerfully ponder it, and has come to realize as I have that it is inspired, but not perfect in the way you insist it is. His congregation will gain heaven by following his counsel and witness of Christ.

Actually, I believe PC's position is that the Bible is NOT, in fact, faulty. But he does seem to recognize that it is vague enough, in some parts, to leave open misinterpretation by faulty human beings. That is why I feel so fortunate to have the Book of Mormon, it clears up some key misunderstandings pertaining to salvation, and at the same time is a firm witness to the validity of the Bible.
