I can not believe who was picked.

First wile watching TV news last night and a bishop, who is a spokesman for the Vatican was talking about how the purpose works and I will never forget what he said. “It’s not like they wait till the Holy Ghost comes and tells them who the next Pope will be”

Well holy cow why wait for the massager of God come and tell you who to appoint????

We are talking about a man who joined the Hitler youth and was a German soldier.

You can Kiss Good by to all the fences mended by the Catholic Church in the past years.

How can they be so insensitive to the Jewish people in the world!

This man is also known for being hard line Catholic. The church will never go forward with him in charge. If any thing it will go back to the old school church.

If you had a choice between the boy scouts and the Hitler Youth gee who do you pick?

In order to join the Hitler Youth you must first be screened to see if you come from the “right” blood lines, No Jews of course, polish or any Slavic back gowned and so on.

Then there is the swearing total allegiants to Hitler and all he believe.

My step-father (Jewish) told me of the night of Crystal night. The Hitler Youth rampaged throw the streets destroying Jewish shops and beating Jews on the street , from there they set fire to synagogues. At the end of the war they were drawn in to the army.

All I can say is the Catholic church have slapped the Jewish and the Slavic people in the face.

What were they thinking?

A chronological biography:

April 16, 1927: Joseph Ratzinger born in Marktl am Inn, Bavaria.

1937: His father retires and the family moves to a village outside the city of Traunstein.

1939: Enters the minor seminary in Traunstein.

1941: Ratzinger turns 14, and is required by law to join the Hitler Youth.

1943: At 16, Ratzinger and the rest of his seminary class are drafted into the German anti-aircraft corps.

1944: Ratzinger is drafted into a labour detail and undergoes basic training in the German infantry.

1945: Deserts the army and returns to Traunstein. He is briefly held by American forces in a prisoner of war camp. After he is released, he and his brother Georg re-enter the seminary.

1947: Enrols in a theological institute associated with the University of Munich.

The Nazi slur on Ratzinger is pathetic -- it's like saying all Arabs are terrorists.

And by "hard-line Catholic," Winnie, the media means that he is not a relativist who wants to conform the Church to the modern conventional wisdom by endorsing gay marriage, premarital sex, etc. I disagree with the Church's teaching on birth control and divorce, but I understand their logic and respect them for refusing to be tossed by every wave of doctrine.

From:

Electing a new pope: FAQs

Q: What are the factors likely to influence the voting?

A: Officially, the church says only the Holy Spirit will influence the results. But church watchers say a new pope will win based on several criteria: age, nationality, life experience, personality, and positions on major issues facing the church.

While I agree the catholic church has done a lot of good things, this just shows more to support my thread of not having a line back to Peter. They do not even allow themself to be inspired of the Holy Spirit. They have sort of "if its God's will it will just sort of work out that way" mind set. To me the Pope is no more "an inspired mouth piece of God to the world" than the local pastor at the church on the corner.

what the heck kind of responce is that winnie? You live in canada right? oh god i hope you live in canada. I cant put into words... yeh i cant even put those words into words. All i will say is RIDICULOUS!

And as to what i was going to say before i read that last post....

<<My step-father (Jewish) told me of the night of Crystal night. The Hitler Youth rampaged throw the streets destroying Jewish shops and beating Jews on the street , from there they set fire to synagogues.>>

-In my opinion if your going to get your butt kicked by a bunch of boy scouts you deserve it, simply because they were able to do it to you. Only exception is old dudes and girls and i suppose children of equal or lessor age.

You believe what you want to believe.

Ill stand by my conviction, somehow I am not surprised. This is the Latter Days.

"Conviction"? What the heck kind of "conviction" is based on transparently false information? Heck, the Jerusalem Post, of all things, cleared Ratzinger of the Nazi slur. You'd think actual Jews -- you know, the people the Nazis killed six million of, unless you're on the far right or far left and deny that the Holocaust happened -- wouldn't hesitate to criticize any hint of genuine Nazi sympathy.

A statement from the 1st Presidency of the LDS church:

LDS Statement on Pope

In a statement issued Tuesday, the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints said: "We join with men and women of goodwill everywhere in congratulating Cardinal Ratzinger on his election as Pope Benedict XVI.

"We wish for him and his many followers continuing progress in furthering the cause of peace among the nations, and the alleviation of poverty and distress throughout the world."

Funny that a Mormon would complain about something like this when your church's practice seems even less inspired. How does: "The oldest dude's the next prophet" become an inspired decision, whereas a vote among cardinals is not?

We are talking about a man who joined the Hitler youth and was a German soldier.

Every young man was requried to serve in the Hitler Youth, Winnie. (Just like every young man in my ward growing up had to be in the Boy Scouts.) And perhaps you missed the fact that Benedicts father was in the NAZI resistance?

You can Kiss Good by to all the fences mended by the Catholic Church in the past years.

Doubtful.

How can they be so insensitive to the Jewish people in the world!

Which groups are complaining?

This man is also known for being hard line Catholic. The church will never go forward with him in charge. If any thing it will go back to the old school church.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

I'd personally like to see Hinckley stand up and say: "Hey, we teach you can become a god, and we're not ashamed of it!"

Maybe when Packer's in charge.

If you had a choice between the boy scouts and the Hitler Youth gee who do you pick?

There was no choice.

All I can say is the Catholic church have slapped the Jewish and the Slavic people in the face.

Produce a group of Jews or Slavs that's complaining, or keep it to yourself.
