Even though I have read the Book of Mormon, as I have read the Bible as well, I am a little confused (which is pretty par for me)..

What exactly is the difference in being a Christian and a Mormon. I don't see much difference. I have had some say Mormons don't believe God is "God" and that his son was only a prophet and a good man. Is this correct?

Thank you. I don't know why there is so much confusion among people about the Mormon faith. Can you please tell me what is the basic difference between Mormons and say... Catholics, or Baptist. I consider all but the middle-eastern religions to be Christian?

Oh and thank you.

There is confusion because there are some things in the LDS faith that are different from Catholics and Baptists as u asked. A man becoming a god for one thing in the LDS faith but not in the Christian faith. Being a sibling like offspring from parent gods is another, and things like that.

The world is full of rumors about Mormons mosttimes told by people who have never read the book of Mormon. Now you have read it and you can see the truth: Jesus, the same Jesus of which the Bible is telling, is the centerpoint of the book. There are diffenences indeed. Christians do not accept the Book of Mormon. That is THEIR problem, not ours.

I think the proof is the problem more than anything for me. I have been reading a lot about the Mormon faith and it seems that there has never been any proof of anything that the Book of Mormon discussed. Although I appreciate the concept and have truly had a desire to find any proof of things that occurred, such as with Joseph Smith, which I have found none to date except what people have handed down over the years, which unfortunately is not very reliable.

The problem Christians have with the Mormon faith is the lack of proof. There is no proof of the tablets that Joseph Smith found. The church is very secretive about some things, such as the Celestial Chapel (I may have said that wrong).. Unfortunately, I have read so many frightening things about Joseph Smith and Brigham Young and atrocities they committed against those who weren't Mormon and even some Mormons. I also believe that God is for the whole world and everything about him should be shared. There should never be any secrets. While I have read the Book of Mormon, if, after searching through, I decide to change to the LDS faith, there will be still always be questions. I think God wants us to become part of a faith based family, but I don't think he wants us to just give ourselves over totally and believe all that is said. The Bible is my main book of use. I don't think the Book of Mormon will ever take its place for me.

Thank you for your response.

The problem Christians have with the Mormon faith is the lack of proof.

And how does God prove His word?

Does He prove it with bones and arthefacts, what people demand?

How did God ever prove his word than by sending Angels?

And above all the Bible clearly says, how you can know that a man's word is true:

Matthew 18 and 2 Corinthians 13

Both are telling the same: In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.

And just that has happened.

There were three other men who saw the angel, heard his voice and touched the golden plates. Testimony of Three Witnesses

Then there were eight other witnesses who saw the golden plates

Testimony of Eight Witnesses

All Mormons are Christians, not all Christians are Mormons.

As far as proof, outside of the Bible, prove to me that Jesus existed, prove to me that He was the Son of God, prove to me that he was resurrected, prove to me that a whale swallowed Jonah, or that Israel wandered 40 years in the desert or were even captives of Egypt. Just because a book uses real place names and some real events does not mean everything it prints is true -- else Gone with the Wind (along with 1000's of other works of fictions) would be true and have all the proof you seem to need.

Don't get me wrong, I believe the Bible -- but there is no proof for most of the events inside its pages. How about holding the BoM to the same standard.

Oh, and the Book of Mormon is not meant to take the place of the Bible - we use both, they go hand in hand.
