Seanette Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 Unfortunately, Prodigal, you seem to be something of a minority among members I meet online. The majority I've seen fit the "intellectual pride" category, along with the rebellious types who yell about how doctrines need to change to fit worldly philosophies (such as on homosexuality). I meet very few online members who are willing to trust God to know what's best, and will truly sustain the leadership of the Church without fault-finding and sniping about how "out of touch" the leadership supposedly is. I also meet very few who don't seem to be looking for negatives in the Church. No, we're not perfect. If we were, we'd be the City of Enoch and probably have been translated. The problem comes when the discussion is so focused on finding flaws that good is dismissed as "lightweight" or, worse, treated condescendingly. Quote
ryanmercer Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 I think the main difference between an internet Mormon and a chapel Mormon is the scope of things they are aware of that may not square with what they learned in Sunday School. The Internet Mormon has most likely heard it all from Mormon critics who will tell them whether the listener wishes to hear these issues or not. The internet Mormon has heard both sides and made his/her own peace with these issues. The chapel Mormon may remain blissfully unaware of these issues.I agree 110% Quote
BenRaines Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 Well folks I spend the better part of most Sundays in church, doing my best to magnify my callings and be the person I should be. I do that the other six days of the week in my daily living and in my business life. I also try to be a follower of Christ here at LDS.net. This is the only forum or board that I frequent. So how would I be classified. I am both a Chapel Mormon and an Internet Mormon. Hmm is that possible? Oh well it doesn't bother me one way or another so I will leave it up to you all to decide. Misshalfway Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 I don't think I like the "labels". I am what I am wherever I go. Hopefully that is something that pleases the Lord. So, I am an internet mormon and a chapel mormon and a mall mormon and a park mormon..... :) Quote
