Guest Believer_1829 Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 So, we have those who believe this is a faith promoting event that is taught in church publications versus others who believe that it is important to know the details to remove the faith promoting aspect of it. Which is right? Do facts trump the fact that we are supposed to always work to build and help others faith and never risk tearing it down? For followers of other Book of Mormon believing faiths the details about whether the incident as described by the LDS people is factual or not is significant, as it is often used as proof that BY was chosen over everyone else to lead the people. Instead, it is to the idea that we should question these events in public debate and attempt to tear them apart, risking the opportunity to have such stories edify and build the faith of another. While some on this forum like the excuse that they are not responsible for the failings of anothers faith, when their actions have that affect, especially when the purpose of such actions is to question a faith building event, they are in fact responsible, IMHO. Though, in the end, it is Heavenly Father who will be the judge, not me. So, I ignore those who believe that they are humble as they continue to intentionally take actions that risk others face. I have no reason to associate with such people, as Heavenly Father tells us to avoid such dangers. Quote

I bet the followers of Sidney Rigdon don't believe so as it concerns the BY story, in particular. Quote
