Elder David A. Bednar said, "It is faith as the principle of action that is so central to the process of learning and applying spiritual truth"

I think Elder Bednar hit the nail on the head with this. Many times we wonder why were not receiving answers or learning when the problems lies in the fact that were not applying that which is given to us. In order to receive by faith we must apply!

Just a thought I had.

I think there is something really powerful in this idea, Martybess.

I think it is interesting that people sometimes, when they experience a crisis of faith, fail to apply these faith principles to the doubt or the compelling problem of the moment. I think it is easy too sometimes to hear the brethren bid us back to our scriptures and our knees to solve our doctrinal problems. I really do believe that God wants to teach us and help us transition into people with sound spiritual understanding.

I understand why "read and pray" sounds like a trite and almost patronizing admonition especially when one feels like they are trying to do that. But there is something about adding the right sorts of faith efforts to the process that seems to make the difference.

Great quote Marty -

One of the things that helps me remember the power of faith is to remind myself of the pre-existence and that a lot of the gospel we knew about before coming here.

Its kind of like when I get back on the slopes, even though it might be years, I feel less anxious knowing that I've done it before. After a few runs, it comes back even faster.
