Just wondering how long those that are LDS have been a member of the Chruch?

It has been 3 years for me. I came to this board as an investigator and found many many answers to my questions. I can credit those that positivly influenced my decision to a couple of people - Snow, Outshined, Traveler and one that you would probably not believe, Bat. :)

There are many others but those were really there in the beginning for me and not so harsh to judge any questions that I had.

Me too. (so as to not waste bandwidth I will say more) I have been a member all of my life... and have learned more than a little from forums like these. I really miss ApostleKnight ... he not only knows a lot... he actually lives it.

What I have noticed that what "you" - (people that have been in the Church all their lives) take for granted, the converts find it all so new and "wow"some!

There are so many great teachers to help us learn the ways. Both at Church and yes on these boards.

Well i know some do take it for granted........I grew up in Utah and it was all I knew.......Honestly i did not know what free agency really was till 15 years ago when i moved here to Neveda. It was totall culture shock for me........And I really had to learn to adapt, Now i think back i did take it for granted, Things are way different out in the rest of the world than in Utah,

I was a member for 27 years. Unless you don't count until baptism, then I was a member for 19 years. Course, the Church didn't have me on record until I was 12 years old, so my blessing, baptism, and patriarchal blessing didn't exist until I was ordained a Deacon.

So according to the records, I was only a member for 15 years.

Then again, I stopped believing in the LDS church proper 4 years before I walked away from all of it, so that makes me a member for 12 years.

As I was a missionary for 2 years, I was not just a standard member, if you take off those years, that makes me a member for 10 years.

Whereas a child is hardly competent to make a decision such as membership in a religious organization at the age of 8, and whereas I never liked the Church until I was 19, minus my missionary service....

I was really only a member for 2 solid years.

Now, since after my mission I realized what a spiritually defunct organization the LDS church really was (having realized that it truly doesn't get any better after the Temple or Mission) you could say I was disillusioned for those two years...

For which cause, if you really think about it, you could say that I never was a member of the LDS church!

Well then....I guess I have nothing left to complain about. (Except being reimbursed for my two years of "voluntary" employment.)

Marsha... I'm a convert also....for almost 20 years...but I think you knew that lol , and I also sing praises of BAT.... he helped me thru some really tough times...and kept me in the church during those times. ( I just don't think he knows that...;) )

I found some great "Home Teachers" on this board....always there when I needed some kind of Priesthood in my life.

Thanks go to most all the guys here.... Snow, Traveler, Setheus, Outshined, John Doe, Ray, Eros, Proud Duck, Spencer, BeGood2, Cedar. For having an impact on my life as Priesthood holders. My faith is rock solid because of people like you. Even Franken and DisR have said some things that impacted my life. Probably forgetting a couple....let me know and I'll add you in ;)

Tao, Jason, Bat, USN, Scott, Mark, Cal, Fuzz Bucket.....and I won't forget SS..;) some of the greatest "other" guys who helped cement my faith in just being who they are :wow:
