His Hebrew name is used many times in the Old testament - Jehovah. Yahweh Yahshua, Yehoshua, Y'shua, Yeshua etc.

Had the old testament been written in Greek then perhaps we would have seen the words Jesus Christ used.

Jesus = what happens when you take Yehoshua (which comes out Joshua when translated to English), translate it into Greek, and THEN tranlate into English.

Some examples of rough equivalent names:

Jesus = Joshua

James = Jacob

John = Jonah

Simon = Simeon

Nathaniel = Nathan

Jude and Judas = Judah

The original Hebrew name Yehoshua means "Jehovah is salvation," so while the name is not specified nor predicted in the Old Testament, it is a fair description of what the life of the Messiah was intended to accomplish. So it's fitting that an angel from God specified that this was to be his name.

I don't think that God would have given the name of the Messiah in advance. The whole idea is that the people of God are supposed to be able to recognize the Messiah when he comes. There are signs certainly, but exhaustive detail isn't to be found in the Old Testament.

One corrected pronunciation of Jesus/Yeshua is Joshua. There is an indirect prophesy regarding him in Zechariah 3, where the high priest Joshua is cleansed and given judgment over Israel, while being told of the coming Messiah/Branch.
