Tammy Posted December 26, 2005 Report Posted December 26, 2005 I have been here for a few months now and I am glad to have met alot of you. I guess I am just wondering what all of you value as important in your lives right now. I know the typical answers-God, family, ect... I would like more of the honest true grit answers.... For me -I am trying to find my nitch now that the kids are grown and I haven't alot of friends. This season in my life is of readjusting and finding new meaning. My family use to be the most important thing to me and it stil is in a sense. BUT now I find that my connection to the Lord and finding a way to serve him best is the most important thing to me. Filling my life with service... Quote
Laureltree Posted December 28, 2005 Report Posted December 28, 2005 Tammy, You are correct.....As we get older and our children grow, it is up to us to focus on our eternal progression so we can prepare ourselves to meet the lord someday. When i was younger I could barely find time to attend the temply, now i make time. there is a time and season for everything under the sun... Quote

Guest sugarbay Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 Let's see...what do I value the most. Other than the obvious-scriptures, gospel, temple, friends, family, flyfishing, etc., etc.? My electric guitar, my favorite deekskin jacket, my Nintendo, my ability to learn from mistakes and bounce back quicker than I ever dreamed possible due to my ever present sword to ward off would-be attackers. Also, I value the area I live in for it's beauty which eases my soul. But most of all and finally I value my one carat diamond earrings. How's that for shallow! Yesss! Snow, what ARE you drinking out of that seemingly bottomless container? B) Quote
Winnie G Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 I have taken up family history. Not just names and dates the "who what and were" side of it that you need to do temple work but the history. Who were these people? I received a gift from my brother, he scanned old family photos touched them up and burned me a disk. This was something he really thought about and knows I would find use for them. My family history album has grown to serpent albums for each line. There are bits of history here and there and as family passes on. As a family, we have taken up writing down in a long email letters froworded back and forth filled with memories of the loved one now gone. It started with my grate-grate uncle Gerald and has taken on a role of its own. As my mothers passing grows close, I know my family and cousins will send me the same kind of e-mails and letters. Those are family history too. I take these memories with faces and place them with the Temple work my husband and I have done for them. It fills raining days or days when I am not feeling well. I spend Sundays doing family history work. What better way to keep the Sabbath. As years have passed since my children have grown, I watch for work the Lord would want me to do. My husband’s health has become an issue and he is my main focus but that is not enough for me. I have to stay out there in the community. Right now I’m a volunteer at the campaign headquarters of the Canaanite I chose to campaign and vote for. I have been asked to be an aria rep for the cancer society (on base) You just have to look around volunteer for something you are passionate about that is the right road to take. Quote
Prend1 Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 Right now I value survival...with three kids home all day and mommy dealing with depression I count my blessings if I am able to get up when they do, get them dressed, make real food and not haivng them eating crackers and donuts all day, and get them to bed on time. All this with a baby too... So I value the days that I can do all that and get through a day without screamong or crying. Quote
sgallan Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 I can relate to the survival mode thing. Between that, coaching, working out, and nurturing a gifted child with no mother in the house...... I keep busy. Quote
Christos Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 I value this increadible feeling I have been feeling the past few days but more so the past few hours. I have developed a real thirst to study the scriptures. I know you didn't want any cliche ones but I really do value the study of the scriptures. Quote

Prend1 Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 Thank you I aprreciate your suggstions I really do. But I live in the middle of nowhere. The only thing out here is railroad tracks and sheriif's deputies. It is 20 minutes to the nearest store and an hour to the nearest hospital. We cannot even get phone service and have to cell phones. And I don't have a car during the day and my husband works 12-14 hours a day so my chances of getting out are about as good as a snowball in hell. But thank you for taking the time to reply. Quote
