bigbobby Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 Hello. Although I am not a Mormon, and I have actually gotten into an argument with one of your bishops (which I now regret since I see now that he was right), I would like to alert all of you to the disturbing bashing and ridicule of your faith that is going on at Blogstream blog called Theology for Dummies. I am sorry to say it's being done by fellow Christians. Quote
NeuroTypical Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 Thanks Bobby. But having our faith bashed and ridiculed by people who profess to follow Christ isn't exactly new to us. It's been happening since the day after Joseph Smith was visited by Heavenly Father and Jesus. Pretty much about any open religious forum will have it's share of Mormon critics. LM Quote

Tamiele Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 It gets very vicious when there is a group that wants to bash Mormons. I have tried to interject and offer/correct any false things being said - and I was told to go away. The ones that want to hate, will hate, and don't want to be shown the error of their comments. It is quite shocking to see the evil and hatred spewing out of people - for what reason?? Even they don't understand why they are so angry at Mormons for this or that. We are a church of people, of beliefs, existing in this world, so to see how much our mere existance incites people - shows me the power of adversary at its worst. It took me along time, as a convert, to stop lashing out in defence - and then I realized that that same evil was awakening a response within me - and now I hold my tongue. Quote
Melissa569 Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 (edited) I find that people often bash LDS because they either don't believe in god, therefore anyone who does is going to be challenged and picked on... Or they are looking for reasons to think that their own faith is better than everyone else's. Or they were just misinformed, and are confusing modern LDS with the extreme Mormon fundamentalists (as an LDS member, I would say that common mistake probably irks me more than anything else, lol). And while even I myself have my own contradictiong opinions about at least SOME of our church's ways and history, I tend to just ignore the really serious bashers. The bashers tend to “strain at gnats and swallow camels” so to speak. They miss the big point, while arguing about the little nit-picky dogmatic and historical details of our church. And they do this as a means of finding excuses to poke holes in something they don't wish to acknowledge (for whatever reason). But quite honestly, I don’t think those are NEARLY as important as faith in God and Christ as a whole. Edited April 19, 2010 by Melissa569 Quote
MormonMama Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 I have always found it very telling how absolutely vicious supposedly "good Christians" can be when the topic of the LDS church comes up. No other faith on earth seems to raise the ire of other Christians as much as ours does. I think that says a lot about how hard Satan is working to fight the church, if he can get even other Christians to become so nasty and hate-filled. Quote
