I'll tell you one thing I like about Pat. He did NOT name his school after himself. Furthermore, he changed the name, so it did would not be directly associated with the 700 Club or the network. So, some day, should I have a few years available for fulltime study and about $30K to spare (very reasonable by today's tuition standards), I can earn a legitimate PH.D., and not have to worry about Robertson's or CBN's reputation at the time (Pitty the students that went to the Jimmy Swaggart Bible College back in the 1980s).

Poor Pat. He says a lot of smart stuff. Then, every once in awhile he comes up with some real foolishness. He needs to empower his handlers and his public relations people to muzzle him from time to time.

Just my 2cents worth:

Pat Robertson is just a man. . . . . . . like any other man. He has good points and bad points. . . . . he does good things and sometimes, bad things. This "man" just so happens to be a religious leader in the US.

My point is that the man is "human". . . . he is also getting older and it appears to me a wee bit "out of it" at times. (mentally)

Just because he goofs up and says somethings that he shouldn't have said is no reason for all "religious" leaders to have to keep their mouths shut about politics. Because we do believe in the Bible and the teachings of Jesus Christ, we should open our mouths and speak out anytime and everytime we see something going on that is wrong. If we ignore things that are against our religious beliefs, we are, in a way, okaying them.

For too many years, I believe that religious leaders have tried to stay away from politics and not try to influence their congregations. Well, that's wrong! If you believe in something so strongly, don't you want to tell everyone about it?

In our area, there are a few "political zealots" that try to warn everyone around about some of the candidates. They are being prosecuted (so to speak) by being ostracized and made fun of. Well, when an elected official does something illegal and winds up out of office, the "prosecuting group" hollers, "Gee, wish someone would have warned us ahead of time", but they forget that they were warned.

I certainly would not want the government or the IRS to start coming around trying to prosecute the LDS Church because of the fact that I make sure I tell everyone to get out and vote, and I also make sure that I tell them who I am voting for and why. Of course, I'm not the minister, but since we all have the opportunity to get up and give a talk from time to time, that could be stretched to be called a minister.

I guarantee there are plenty of people fussing at Pat Robertson about what he said. It's definitely not something we need the government involved in. Besides that, there have been plenty of other religious leaders who have said and done things that were really dumb and sometimes harmful to the US, but the IRS is not going after them.

Just chalk one up for a man's temporary stupidity and let it go at that.

Schools teach about all religions and the government does not intervene in the school system. Why should it intervene in a church ministry?

I don't know where you live, but the government does intervene in the school system in many ways here in TX.

As far as the schools teaching about all religions, I do not believe that they do. They don't really have time to teach about ALL religions, and I can tell you, from experience, that they don't necessarily teach the "truth" about religions.

My girls were asked to speak at school on the LDS religion, and the class was to be allowed to ask questions which sounds okay. However, the teacher assigned ONE student to ask the questions . . . . . . . so the girls would not be bombarded by everyone. (sounds okay, right) Well, the one young man who asked the questions had obviously been well versed by his religious group in asking questions that would cause problems and lead to speculation about our religion. My daughters were able to handle the situation, but the other young woman who has been asked to participate with them wound up being in one class alone to give her presentation, and she wound up leaving in tears because of the things that were said to her about her religion.

They don't TEACH about other religions, they give short synopsis which may or may not be accurate.

Remember, the USA and the UN were pressuring Israel to give up their land. Arafat on his own had no clout except for the suicide bombers.

Please explain the goodness of a god who is mad at a Palestian terrorist, a republican administration and a world political body and vents his anger by killing women and children in Kansas...

Nevermind. Now - please explain the thinking process of someone who thinks God is mad at a Palestian terrorist, a republican administration and a world political body and so vents his anger by killing women and children in Kansas...

Unbelievable.

Yeah - so Pat Robertson apologizes and ask for forgiveness...

It's not a matter of forgiveness - it not like he stole your girlfriend.

The issue is that he is an idiot. Forgive him all you want... he is an idiot still.

God defends His own people and keeps watch over them. Reread the verses. :) It explains it all.

Gen 12:3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

I'll speak slowly. It would be an evil and unjust and capricious god who would kill women and children in Kansas because he was mad at Palestian terrorists and/or the White House.

...unless you care to explain how killing innocent children on the opposite side the world equates with God defending his people.
