JThimm88 Posted July 8, 2010 Report Posted July 8, 2010 (edited) okay. thanks. Anyone have any other comments?I'm considiring water birth for my first child. I don't want to have her in the hospital however i'm kind of a wimp and i hear that water births are less painfull.I understand that no medication can be used while during water birthing and as much as i hope i can do this without medication and be able to bring my daughter into the world without help of medication i don't want it to go wrong.Lizzy, are you pregnant? Last time I checked you were only 15 or 16 (not that I check often, lol; I just saw your profile one time when I first joined the boards), so when I saw this post I was kind of confused because you haven't really given any direct answers on whether or not you're expecting and you're also kind of "young" by society's standards (I say "young" in quotes because I do believe that if put in that sort of situation, some teens can be mature enough to raise children; it won't be easy, but it's sure possible!) At any rate, it never hurts to consider things that will happen in the future if you're not. :) Though if you ARE, then may God be with you throughout the whole ordeal; I know it can be a very crazy situation, exciting for sure, but ALWAYS nerve wracking, and I totally know how you feel (if you keep reading) Also, sorry if this has probably been discussed somewhere in the posts, I just didn't read them all before posting myself. My husband and I just found out a few weeks ago that I'm pregnant; only 5 weeks at this point (found out when I was only 3!), so we haven't even considered birthing options in actuality yet, but I know I would never go with a water birth, simply because I couldn't handle my own "mess" floating around (think BLOOD... and after a miscarriage, I don't do well with that so much...) Guest Alana Posted July 8, 2010 Report Posted July 8, 2010 my main personal reason why I wouldn't want a water birth is because...well there are a few. First one is that i don't like my shoulders cold in a bath. SO, if my hair got wet or my shoulders and they were cold I'd be annoyed. Also when I take a bath I want it HOT... with birth it can only be so warm, that would annoy me too. Also, I like having something solid to hold my feet up while in labor and the idea of things being wet and slippery would annoy me. Also, after wards, it does get messy in there, and i"d not be down with that. After birth I'm not hoping in the shower right away. Just wipe me down with a towel and let me snuggle in a warm dry bed with the baby... Quote
JThimm88 Posted July 8, 2010 Report Posted July 8, 2010 Congratulations on finding out your pregnant. I'm pretty good with blood and such. Thanks, Lizzy. I'm generally fine with blood, too... but it's different when you're miscarrying versus giving birth. In labor, you're not staring at all of it; with a miscarriage, it is devastating, and even scarring especially when it happens while you're home alone and have to face it all by yourself, as it was with my experience. If you are pregnant and have made it to the "safe period" (12 weeks where the chance of miscarriage happening in pregnancy goes drastically down), then consider yourself lucky! :) Quote
Elgama Posted July 8, 2010 Report Posted July 8, 2010 I had much less blood with my 2 normal labours not hampered by pre-eclampsia had less blood than my miscarriages they were also less painful Quote
