Traveler Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 The scientific principles and notions that comprise evolution are quite compatible with the scripture teaching of the origin and creation of all things. In fact the concept of Intelligent Design (Young Earth) as opposed to evolution even hurts most Christian concepts in the scientific arena. Paramount to understanding Biblical creation is the very essence of evolution. That is; that all things outlined in scripture informing us of G-d’s creation is not a single event but a process by which something that already exist is altered, changed or if you will “organized or separated” but in the final analysis “created”. I would that a reader understand that there is a link that brings together all things involved in the works of G-d. Words and concepts such as “salvation”, “redemption” and “saved” all have roots of unity in understandings which are evolutionary as established through the great creation. Creation is its self evolution and evolution is the essence of creation.Let us consider carefully the beginning of scripture where we as man are introduced to the wonders and mysteries of G-d’s power of creation. Genesis 1: 1-4:1: In the Beginning G-d created the heaven and the earth.2: And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of G-d moved upon the face of the waters.3: And G-d said, Let there be light: and there was light.4: And G-d saw the light, that it was good: and G-d divided the light from the darkness. In these 4 short verses not only does G-d explain his creation but there is both purpose and destiny revealed. With this basic beginning stuff all the work and purpose of G-d has a basis and can be understood as “the secret” of spiritual and physical evolution unfold. The astonishing thing to me as a scientist is not only do these verses envelop great spiritual enlightenment but there is basis for understanding really neat scientific stuff related to the cosmic “Hot Big Bang”, particle physics and quantum mechanics. One of the most basic principles of creation that pervades nearly every religious construct is the idea of the creative cycle or circle. But where do we begin in explaining the cycle of creation? If we try to understand the contents of a black hole there are several scientific principles of physics that begin to unfold in rather interesting ways. The stuff in a black hole stuff all called “a singularity”. The best scientific description is that all this stuff in a black hole is indistinguishable. There is no big verses small, matter verses energy, complex verses simple, there is no dimension (this concept of no dimension is hard to imagine because we think of everything in spacial context) and a most important concept is that the black hole stuff is not lightness or darkness. Everything that is in the black hole exists in singularity. How interesting that both the scriptures and science start out creation with singularity stuff that is void and without form. Kind of sounds like a singularity doesn’t it? And what is the first thing to be done with this singularity stuff? Separate it. We begin creation by separating the light stuff from the dark stuff.Note in verse 4 that G-d identifies light as good. This is paramount in the need to separate it. The Book of Mormon tells us that there is opposition in all things and in the case of light its opposite is darkness. The separation of light from darkness is the reason of creation. But it is also not a one step process. Indeed it is an evolutionary chiasm. It is the mark of both the beginning and the end of the cycle of creation. As we move forward to the end of time right down to the final judgment we find the separation of light from darkness still taking place and coming to a conclusion, for even salvation and judgement is the continuation of the separation of light from darkness. Now back to the beginning of the cycle we find two interesting characters involved that play a critical and important role. The first character I will mention is a character known in heaven as Lucifer. This is an interesting name and title for this individual because it means “one of light” or “Bringer of Light”. In a lie Lucifer claims to be responsible for light. On the other hand is a character that we now know as The Son of G-d or Jesus the Christ. He also claims to be responsible for light. He tells us he is the “way” the “truth” and the “light”. The separation of these two started at the very beginning of creation as pointed out in Genesis and finishes in Revelation. Isn’t it interesting that these two books are at the beginning and the end of Biblical scriptures. Creation is intended to separate all that belong to Christ as the source of light and those that belong to Satan that is the source of darkness. This separation is not a single event but an evolutionary process that defines the Great Plan of Salvation and Eternal Progression. The Traveler Quote
Traveler Posted September 23, 2010 Author Report Posted September 23, 2010 There is another very interesting thing that is quietly mentioned in verse 2 in a reference "face of the waters". Anciently there are many creation epochs that reference a watery abyss. What would that have to do with a singularity? The Traveler Quote
Traveler Posted September 28, 2010 Author Report Posted September 28, 2010 (edited) There are a lot of readers – so I hope I am not offending very many. Anciently it was believed that all things were derived from earth, wind, fire and water. However, most ancient cultures believed that water is the basis of all things. That earth, wind and fire all were created from water with the separation of light from darkness. And so it is that water gives off energy when it is frozen in a step function and not a smooth curve. Thus it was thought that water is the first singularity of things. As hokey as this all sounds there are some interesting things about water. We know from modern times that water comes from Hydrogen and Oxygen. The hydrogen atom is the simplest complete atom to exist and two atoms of hydrogen combined with one of Oxygen is the simplest stable molecule. The interesting thing about the water molecule is that it creates a ratio for all other molecules. Thus the ancient Egyptians (2200 BC) thought water represented singularity. Water is the most important molecule for sustaining life as we know it.When water freezes there is a shift in the angle of the atoms by 5 degrees that causes the unfrozen molecule to be smaller, denser and therefore able to float. No other substance does this and will contract when cooled and frozen. Also the water molecule when frozen will become stronger (as it proceeds to cool). At temperatures close to absolute zero water is stronger than diamonds and becomes a super conductor. The 5 degrees dipole in the water molecule also is related to the resident noise that exist everywhere in the universe believed to be left over from the Hot Big Bang which means that water may be the basis of the Hot Big Bang. Once again pointing to a singularity. I guess what I am saying is that in all we have learned since Genesis record of the creation – we still can interpret what is there and find an amazing unification of modern scientific thought and ancient theological revelation. The great problem is that – for whatever reason – there is a great propensity to avoid what we learn from science contributing what we understand of religions and vice versa.
