IronLion Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 Hi I have a question. Can parents be sealed for eternity with children? What I mean is if I became a good standing member of the LDS church and was using the temple and my mother also became a member of the church, could we be together in heaven? I hope it makes sense what I am saying. \Thanks guys :) Quote
slamjet Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 The answer is Yes, and please remember, all will be made right and correct before we enter into our rest and reward. I have an adopted daughter (former wife's daughter from first marriage whom I adopted) who was born under the covenant. Everyone kept telling me that I MUST have her sealed to me. But I couldn't get an answer on how appropriate it would be or if and how it can be done. So I am letting it rest until the millennium. It will all be made right then. Quote
Dravin Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 As far as I know Slamjet, if she's already sealed to her parents (via being BIC) you can't be sealed to her even if you have adopted her. The adoption + sealing combo only works if they aren't already sealed to parents (could be biological or previous adoptive parents). If you want an official answer talk to a Temple President. Quote
IronLion Posted October 9, 2010 Author Report Posted October 9, 2010 What if my mother is divorced and doesn't plan on remarrying? Can we still be sealed? Quote
pam Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 Children can only be sealed to parents who are married. Quote
captmoroniRM Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 They don't have to be biological parents either. My mom is sealed to her adopted parents, who both passed away without knowing the gospel. Quote

If you have done all you can do, God will make it right. He desires our complete and total joy and happiness in the eternities. Within the bounds of eternal law and our own choices....He will do everything in His power to make it right and ensure our happiness. We are not able to say NOW what will happen THEN (except what I just stated). Guest tomk Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 What if my mother is divorced and doesn't plan on remarrying? Can we still be sealed?Ultimately, eternal family units are husbands and wives. Couples. The question isn't just "can we be sealed" but "Why be sealed? And to what end?"Just wanting to be with family members is only part of the reason. The other reason is to have eternal progeny. Billions of children whom we will send to an earth like this one. jayanna Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 If your father is passed, someone can stand in for him as proxy. For example, my mother is living, my father is not. If she were to join the church, we could be sealed with my dad in the temple. If she does not join the church during her lifetime, she and he can still join after they die. I can still be sealed to them. Quote
pam Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 or were married at some point in there lifetime. also children must be sealed to both a mother and father Yes but this means sealing these two together first if not already done. Quote
