jennvan Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 Yep it did that to mine last night as well. Good thing I had a repair DVD made and it didn't take too long to restore my computer. Quote
ADoyle90815 Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 It did that to my new laptop last night, but I was able to fix it. I uninstalled AVG and went with MSE, so far it's working great. Quote

GeneC Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 (edited) Microsoft Security Essentials is better, works great and is free. Microsoft Security Essentials wraps antivirus and antispyware engines, rootkit protection, and real-time detection into one package. No firewall but works great with Windows Firewall. captmoroniRM Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 thus why i use Avast. and malwarebytes....and hijackthis.... Quote
Mahone Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 thus why i use Avast. and malwarebytes....and hijackthis....Ditto. Particularly hijack this - because it leaves the user to decide whether what it has detected is malware or not, so it can be a lot more stringent in what it reports. Most of what it finds is not malware, but to date it's not failed to find what I wanted it to, and it's very difficult to make malware that it wouldnt pick up. Quote
