David A. Bednar - Sunday a.m. session

Revelation is communication between God and His children here on earth.

The spirit of revelation is available to every person who receives the savings ordinance of baptism and the laying on of hands to receive the Holy Ghost by those who hold the authority.

The spirit of revelation normally comes to us by feelings and thoughts.

Each of should consider seriously and ponder prayerfully how we can reject the devil’s enticements.

Revelations can come in dreams, visions, conversations with heavenly messengers and inspiration.

Some are received immediately and tensely. Some come gradually and subtly.

Revelation usually comes in small increments over time and is granted according to our desire, worthiness and preparation.

The fundamental truths of the restored gospel were not delivered to Joseph Smith all at once in the sacred grove. They were revealed as warranted and when the time was right.

We sometimes receive revelation without realizing how and when we receive it.

We may not see angels or hear angels voices.

As we strive to keep the commandments and do better, we can walk with confidence that God will guide our steps.

I think his statement was more "confirming" that we (all of God's children) are entitled to revelation for ourselves and our families. Some members may need to feel reassured that with their ordinances, they are entitled to revelation.

Now, if you were getting revelation regarding the Lord's church... that would be a false revelation because God's house is a house of order. He will communicate directly using the hierarchy that He established.

Hope this helps?
