Do you mean you are trying to put a geographic location to the events in the Book of Mormon by comparing the geographic features mentioned in text and comparing them to a map? Why you will find hypotheses floating around LDS thought there really isn't anything more definitive then "somewhere in the Americas", at least that I'm aware of.

You stated the Book of Mormon the first time around, finding that they existed in the Book of Mormon is a relatively simple endeavor*, which is why I assumed there was something more to it. As JAG points out the Bible doesn't say anything about Lamanites or Nephites as a people, though LDS consider John 10:16 to be a reference to them (along with other potential scattered remnants of Israel), but it's because Christ in the Book of Mormon says it is a reference to them.

*Though admittedly it takes some extrapolation.

The Bible tells us that there are in essence 3 classifications of peoples, represented by the children of Noah. They are:

1. The children of covenant - The Bible names and follows the descendents of Israel (from Shem)

2. The gentiles - The Bible often refers to the gentiles and the nation of gentiles (from Japheth)

3. The infidels - The Bible will reverence various peoples as infidels (from Ham)

The Bible prophesies that descendents of Israel will be scattered through the world - including nations that are upon the isles of the see (generally understood to mean places - islands and continents that can only be reached by crossing over the sea. Joseph was blessed by his father, Israel that he was a fruitful bough by a well (symbol of water) whose branches would run over the wall (symbol of being planted in another place. The Bible also prophesies that the children of Joseph (Ephraim) would create a record like unto the record kept by the Jews (Bible). And that in the last days the record of Ephraim would be “united” with the record of the Jews. I would submit that the Americas are the only continent and the Book of Mormon the only record of Ephraim that in reality even comes close to fulfilling such prophesies.

You have been a member here for a few years, your profile says you are LDS, yet you come here asking that question? An LDS person would know that no one from the Book of Mormon is mentioned in the Bible. There are very good reasons for this. Would you like to know why?
