OkieRider Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 Hi Everyone, A bit of history... A couple years ago my my wife left me. Blah blah blah. She is inactive now and I endulged deeper into the church and temple attendence. I met a girl on LDS Singles and the rest is history. We both have temple recommends and have been married a year this November. We met with our Bishop a couple months ago about the process for us to be sealed in the temple. He said he would look into it. Well he didn't. After about 6 weeks I asked him what he has learned and he told me nothing and asked if I would just contact the Stake Pres secretary and get an appointment with him. Well I said ok but haven't done it yet. So that is where I need the advice.... I'm pretty sure the Stake Pres will tell us to start the process with our bishop. I don't want to waste our Stake Pres time for him to tell us to see our bishop who already told us to see our Stake Pres. Can anybody give me a little heads up on the process, how to get started and how to handle this little road block respectfully? Thanks, Bobby Quote
Jennarator Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 You are correct. You need to start with your bishop. You and your wife and the bishop all need to write letters to the first presidency. The bishop will also need to request letters from the ex's that are invollved. We are in the middle of the same process. Only on our 4th bishop. It's a lot for them to do, so I think they procrastinate. Quote
Jennarator Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 Although, perhaps if you meet with the stake pres, he could give a little instuction and nudge to the bishop? Can't hurt. :) Quote
Backroads Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 My husband went through it at the beginning of this year. Bishop needs to get the ball rolling first. Jennerator already told you the gist of the process. However, he got his sealing clearance back within two weeks of all the finished paperwork being put in the mail. So really, the trick is just getting the necessary paperwork together. I recommend keeping (politely) on the bishop, though. Quote
