pam Posted May 6, 2012 Report Posted May 6, 2012 Actually I have been bapised for the dead there, and regularly take non Mormon visitors to the atrium to try to dispel some of their ignorant hostility toward my Church.I'm just gonna let the garment deal die. That's awesome. Of course I was referring to going for your own endowment session. Quote
Guest Posted May 6, 2012 Report Posted May 6, 2012 They ask for a recommend here. I don't want to get anyone in trouble. And honestly, I think I've worked with one woman there who wasn't grouchy, and she was younger. I didn't see her there this time. It doesn't bother me a lot, I just thought it was interesting that DH, SIL, and I have all had that experience, and wondered if it was really common. Quote
ClickyClack Posted May 6, 2012 Report Posted May 6, 2012 My wife is somewhat oddly-shaped...she's quite petite (skinny as a rail), and has VERY long legs, and a VERY short torso. She's 11 inches shorter than I am, but our legs are the same length. The first few times she asked the ladies at the counter about trying to find garments which would actually fit her, she got brushed off by the grumpy ladies. Finally, she found one that was actually friendly and helpful, and was told something that the grumpy ladies evidently like to keep secret: They can take your measurements and order garments sized just for you. Same price, and they're shipped to your house. Here's the crazy part: After a while, she went back to have more ordered from the same measurements. This time, she got a grumpy lady, who seemed to get angry that my wife would ask - or even know - about the custom-made ones. Quote
ClickyClack Posted May 6, 2012 Report Posted May 6, 2012 IF you are not warm enough in them, you can certainly wear your 'long johns' over them, as well as your bra.Thermal garments. They are AWESOME for cold weather. Quote
Ally01 Posted May 7, 2012 Report Posted May 7, 2012 I've never had problems with them being grumpy, old yes but always willing to help. If I can't find something they help or tell me that has been dicontiuned and tell me what they carry now. Quote
dahlia Posted May 7, 2012 Report Posted May 7, 2012 So, is that a rule or something? Do they check your MRN?I just bought some garments online (problems w/the website) and the nice lady certainly asked for my member number. These LDS are some organized folks, Hala. The level of organization and record keeping in which the Church engages is just mind boggling sometimes. In one year I'm sure the Church has accumulated more info on me than the Catholics did for the 30+ years I was a member. Quote
annewandering Posted May 7, 2012 Report Posted May 7, 2012 Membership number is asked for if you do not have a temple recommend in distribution centers. Otherwise they look you up on the records. I have never had a problem getting my garments, recommend or not. Hmm just thinking. Maybe they dont ask for the membership number in distribution centers. I do know they can look you up. Quote
john doe Posted May 7, 2012 Report Posted May 7, 2012 They have looked me up using my name, birthdate, and ward before to verify I have been endowed. It's no big deal. Quote
Guest Posted May 8, 2012 Report Posted May 8, 2012 I think if the lady that helped me next week had had to look me up, she'd have had a heart attack. Quote
john doe Posted May 8, 2012 Report Posted May 8, 2012 I think if the lady that helped me next week had had to look me up, she'd have had a heart attack. So, you've already seen the future and know that she will be cranky? Very interesting.... Quote
pam Posted May 8, 2012 Report Posted May 8, 2012 Eowyn will think it's "neat" that she can see into the future. Quote
annewandering Posted May 8, 2012 Report Posted May 8, 2012 Eowyn sees into the past which tells her they are not all that helpful. No need to see into the future. Quote
