Seminarysnoozer Posted June 13, 2012 Report Posted June 13, 2012 (edited) thanks for your input but do you not think it is rather interesting that we never see in scripture the advice to actually take responsibility for our own sins but rather to repent of them? The TravelerWhat does D&C 101:78 mean then? " 78 That every man may act in doctrine and principle pertaining to futurity, according to the moral aagency which I have given unto him, that every man may be accountable for his own sins in the day of judgment."And D&C 104" 13 For it is expedient that I, the Lord, should make every man accountable, as a steward over earthly blessings, which I have made and prepared for my creatures."? LinuxGal Posted June 17, 2012 Report Posted June 17, 2012 Let me ask you something, how is it possible that anyone will be punished for their own sins, as we believe stated in the articles of faith, if they are not accountable for their choices and actions? How can we have punishment without liability?Apparently liability is not absolute, but malleable. One might assume liability for another's sin.Jacob 1:19 And we did magnify our office unto the Lord, taking upon us the responsibility, answering the sins of the people upon our own heads if we did not teach them the word of God with all diligence; wherefore, by laboring with our might their blood might not come upon our garments; otherwise their blood would come upon our garments, and we would not be found spotless at the last day. This is what we call "callings" (... to an office as stated in the verse you gave) or stewardship, as Jesus called the apostles to be fishers of men. Quote
