prisonchaplain Posted January 24, 2007 Author Report Posted January 24, 2007 PC, what does COJCLDS mean?Just a wild guess but I believe he would be referring to the Church OF Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints :) minus an OI used that abbreviation a lot until I got lazy and usually just stick with wording it to use LDS :) Just to strain the semantics: If I'm not mistaken, this abbreviation is the common used, when folk want to refer to the official name of the church. The 2nd "of" is left out because, while the emphasis on the Church being OF Jesus is important, it's sufficient to say that this church of Jesus Christ is peopled by Latter Day Saints. I don't recall ever seeing COJCOLDS. Quote

rosie321 Posted January 24, 2007 Report Posted January 24, 2007 You're probably right I just have a tendancy of using English in my own unique way. :) Just look through my posts :) I can't wait 'til we all speak one language again. Hopefully it will have a lot less grammar rules and be a whole lot easier to express those things difficult to put into words :) Quote
Guest Ajax Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 I posted the following on another string:Where I stand today: I am convinced that the teaching that most distinguishes the COJCLDS is the premortal existence of humanity--and all that falls from that teaching. It's more important that the "grace vs. works" arguments, the closed vs. open canon, and perhaps even the nature of God. So, how about you. Which church teaching touches you the most? Which do you find compelling or fascinating? Christ in America. It lets me know how all things are fulfilled, how Christ is not just an old world concept, how He is the God for all men everywhere, not just through men traveling and spreading His word, but He also going to every nation and teaching. It will be great to someday read all the accounts of His visitations when the record books of all peoples are revealed.
