Uhura
How accurate and trustworthy would they be?
Vort
Are they photographs of the writing in the Bibles, or transcriptions? If the former, I would assume they would be as valuable and trustworthy as the information in the Bible itself would be, or nearly so. If the latter, then they would be as trustworthy as the original Bible times the trustworthiness of the transcriber -- in other words, less so. Uhura
I mean the kind you find online that go back generations before anyone was born. I doubt they are primary ones like census and other records but should they be considered trustwothy and accurate as far as adding names to my family history? Vort
I don't know what kind of family Bibles one finds online. In general, family Bibles are considered quite reliable. As you note, they are not normally considered "primary" sources, but they are usually very accurate and sometimes (often) the only reliable source for some dates and events. Uhura
I haven't seriously studied any of them yet. Genealalinks is one online. I don't know the exact website. Or type in family bibles and family history and you will see some ideas of what I mean.
