ctr2961 Posted December 20, 2012 Report Posted December 20, 2012 The only vitamins my son seems to take is the ones with aspartame. I have been hearing a fight between many groups on this chemical say and it is dangerous or not. My son needs the vitamins but I am concern about aspartame poisoning. As a parent, what would you do? Dravin Posted December 20, 2012 Report Posted December 20, 2012 (edited) Have him keep taking the pills, and if he wants to have a diet soda or some sugar free gum let him have those too. Assuming these aren't some rare vitamins, and you're really worried about the safety of aspartame, you can find children's vitamins without aspartame. Edited December 20, 2012 by Dravin Quote
Guest Posted December 20, 2012 Report Posted December 20, 2012 (edited) I go by holistic principles. First is to balance the regular food intake and if additional supplements are necessary, then I use "whole food" vitamin supplements. Here's a good write-up about whole food vitamins: Synthetic or Natural Vitamins – What’s The Difference?Yes, it requires a better understanding of what vitamin does what and what vitamin your child is lacking in his normal eating habits... which, I guess will require understanding of what vitamins kids need and what are the signs that he is lacking which vitamins...In any case, we avoid any and all junk-filled kids vitamin supplements. And that's including Flinstones. Edited December 20, 2012 by anatess Quote
Guest Posted December 20, 2012 Report Posted December 20, 2012 Get them from a health food store. If you can find any sweetened with xylitol, all the better. . . then you're fighting cavities, too. Quote

If it is bad for diabetics, then it is bad for everyone. It does the same to Mr Healthy as a Horse as it does to someone with diabetes. Get your kid vitamins he swallows rather than chews. Better yet, feed him a fully balanced diet, then the vitamins won't be needed. Quote
