LeSellers Posted April 6, 2016 Report Posted April 6, 2016 Also one of my beautiful granddaughter's birthdays, but she's not 186. Lehi P.S. I'm among those who believe that it also marks the 2016th birthday of the Savior of mankind. LS unixknight 1 Quote
unixknight Posted April 6, 2016 Report Posted April 6, 2016 Indeed, the Spring birth makes much more sense... though maybe that should be 2010th, since the calendar was adjusted at some point and it was found to be 6 years off, placing the Birth of Christ in AD 6. (Counter intuitive, I know, but the alternative would have been to adjust current dates by 6 years and that's way more complicated.) Quote

However, the evidence I trust (section 20) makes it cler for me. That said, there is evidence that it was April 6, 1 bc. There was an eclipse of the moon in Mar 1 ad (as I recall reading: I am not near my library right now). Since most people use Josephus (?) account of Herod's dying after such an eclipse, it gives Joseph (no relation) time to go to Egypt with his stepSon as the Gospel relates. Those same "most people", usually adjust the date from 1 bc back by four years, and I don't recall seeing a forward adjustment to ad 6 anywhere before. Any way, I know what I believe, and why. I also know it doesn't really make much difference. Lehi Quote

Completely a topic for another thread, but am I reading this correctly? Do you believe that Yeshua would have been born around Pesach (Passover)? Quote
