Winnie G Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 Well hello every one!YES we are finely in our new home!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After a summer in a tent trailer crossing the longitude middle of Canada ten times + this past month, No I’m not kidding. We have been to a family wedding in Fort Mac-Murray Northern Alberta were they are mining oil from the sand; to north of Winnipeg Manitoba. Oh wait I finely can describe what Newfoundlanders look like when Clogging (dancing) Drunken River Dance! :dude: Most Newfoundlanders are Irish and Scottish. What a wedding! A HOOT! I love my in-laws.We did most of this with our two granddaughters and a 9 year old Chihuahua. We went down memory lane and took the granddaughters to the camping sites were their mother ran in sand and has such fond memory of. We spent more time with our newest granddaughter now three months old. Long story Mr. Creepy the father still know well enough to stay at lest 100 yards from my husband and my self.We snapped our hitch off our car just out side Regina Saskatchewan were welding was done and back on the road in 42 hours. I have gotten back to my childhood playing Barbie’s and dressing and undressing baby dolls named Cindy and Neville. We joined our son and his family in Winnipeg and traveled to a camping resort, check out the video ( www.lilacresort.mb.ca ) for a week, four days two long. You can only do so much swimming, and watersides and laying in the sun with three grandchildren. A boy 11 and two girls 2 and 4. I took my grandchildren to there first open-air rock concert. NO I’m not kidding. My son and I had the most wonderful night of dancing to Bon-Jovi with the girls on our shoulders on the beach not far from the band. I don’t think my 30 year old son will forget that moment any time soon. When I get all my photos together, I will link you up so I can share them.We said our goodbyes and cried allot, dropped our granddaughters back off at their fathers in Calgary and heading back to our new home finely finished. There is one other note, when I went off line in July and all we had headed in to storage in that heat my loving Ed had a stroke. He bounced back quickly and he is doing OK. The ward members when moving in here (brethren) kept a watchful eye on him.So while traveling he rested most of the time. We stayed a week here in town close to the doctor untill he was much better, before we left on this trek.So to the move, here we are moving day brethren every were and the washer and dryer comes in. The one thing the builder was asked to do was to build a laundry room on the main floor. He did and it looks wonderful, but and it’s a BIG BUT it’s a whole foot too small! We told them the size of the appliances! One of the brethren installs appliances for a living. He could not see how they ever thought they fit in there. OH yes it gets better the stove! He had to rip out all the molding to just squeak it by and get the stove in.One of our older sons in going be here next weekend to install my dishwasher under the counter and he’ll make it fit. By the way all appliances are standard 27 to 30 inches wide.So we went out Saterday night with a gift certificate and went in to more debt and bought a stackable washer and dryer. OH yes the lawyer is getting the bill to pass on to the builder with legal costs! SO We are now tired, we had went shopping for grocery’s and hit Burger King before heading home to face all the boxes, after all tomorrow is Sunday. So picture a hot tired broke women in her late forty’s standing in Burger King pumping away at the Ketchup pump trying to squeeze out a couple little cups of Ketchup when it all hits me I start laughing I’m pumping away at what I can describe as ketchup farts.. Its almost midnight and I’m loosing it in Burger King! My Eddie comes up and puts his arm around me and says “Honey they have packets of ketchup go sit down” by this point I’m laughing so hard my side hurts and I’m crying and I’m still pumping away : Fart-Fart- Fart in to the little white paper cups. Its just the whole Irony that the one thing we asked for from the builders and after being 10 months late on the completion date. I’m standing in a fast food joint being farted at by ketchup!I went home and ran a load of wash for Church cloths miss matched of course and hang them up on a wooden drying wrack with an oscillating fan on them all night. We finely laid our heads down and we could not sleep. WHY? well the beds too soft! Of COURSE!Its not the three inches of camper mattress !So we are up Laughing like crazy people at 2:30 AM.OH yes I missed something or someone I should say. Our 23 year old son moved back home as well. So much for an empty nest. He was dismayed at my insistence that IT was off to singles ward to find a wife! I think that is the only way to permanently launching him from the nest!We made it to church, just in time. Ed only slept though half of sacrament meeting. I think he did very well.We ate out of cans for Sunday dinner, chili and biscuits. I’ll do better next week.Another news note my sister god bless her is still hanging on itshould be any day now and it is her sure will that keeps her here. I love her so and pray so hard to understand Gods will in all this. She has yet resolved her self to her death and can find no peace. With the encouragement of my niece who is born again, she has excepted Jesus and was baptized. My sister is Jewish. The in-home hospice are doing a wonderful job keeping my sister pain free and comfortable as possible.Well like child birth the house is finely done 10 months over do and the baby is beautiful SO we will Keep it!But unlike labor this wont soon be forgotten.Cant wait to show it to all of you Quote

Dr T Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 Glad you're in your home. :) What did the building (per square foot) cost you Winn? Just looking for the going rate there. Quote
Annabelli Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 Winnie G: Your house building has brought so many memories back. I bought into a country estate in the mid 1980's and had a house built. I can look back on that now and laugh at all the stuff that happened. It was about a year of getting it all worked out. In the first place they BUILT THE WRONG HOUSE! They decided to move it and build the one that I wanted. It was an unusually rainy season so they had to wait a month. The extra expenses included paying for A DRIVEWAY! The electric company wired the estate with 110 !!! So NO ELECTRIC for weeks! I lived packed for close to a year before I was able to move in. But now when I look back all the stupid stuff just seems funny. I was forced to eat a lot of fast food during that time. Quote
Winnie G Posted September 11, 2007 Author Report Posted September 11, 2007 You would not believe what happened today, the builder we will call him dumb Al showed up with two vent covers they missed and asked "So is every thing OK"? my hubby just smiled and said Winnie needs to chat with you Ill have her call you she in the tub. I was but he is a chicken, well maybe not a chicken it would have been safer for dumb Al to talk to me and not my hubby he might end up in a cast if he talked to my hubby the way he talked to me. So I called and told him the laundry room witch is a custom request from us to be on the first floor by the way is one foot too small and we now have to buy new. he hung up and said "I'm coming over"! Oh by the way did I fail to say he lives kitty corner across from us? he came over and pulled out his tap memasseurnd memessered "Your right! "Of course I'm right I'm a women appliances are a womens thing." he told me we appovied the planes I looked at him and said really so a master builder cant make a laundry room for standard size appliances? he left and now the lawyer is handling it. being so close to us is not a good thing my grown children are talking already of putting a bannana up his tail pipe every time they visit.
