Just_A_Guy Posted June 7, 2017 Report Posted June 7, 2017 I love this chapter. Isaiah's feelings of inadequacy are apparent, and the symbolism is beautiful. The KJV's verbiage of Verse 13 suggests optimism--that "a remnant will return"--but at least two other Bible translations (NET and ESV) translate the verse in a much more pessimistic way. The NET version has it thus: 13Even if only a tenth of the people remain in the land, it will again be destroyed, like one of the large sacred trees or an Asherah pole, when a sacred pillar on a high place is thrown down. That sacred pillar symbolizes the special chosen family. Quote
