Sealing To Wife And Step-children?

Greetings-- I am a 42 yo LDS man living in the upper Midwest. My family composition is that of a "hers" and "ours." We have three children ranging from 3 yrs to 6 yrs, and she has six older children ranging in age from 8 to 22. Although these children are not "mine" (at least biologically), we don't differentiate between the older group and our "biological" children. My quesion is this: our biggest family goal this year is for my wife and I to be sealed in the Temple. Will we be able to be sealed to all of the children as well? Is there a special process for a sitaution such as ours?

That is correct. My friend got remarried and seal to her Husband but her son's father would not let him be sealed to them so they are waiting for him to turn 18.

Good luck with it.

However....once a child has turned 18 the church considers them an adult and they cannot enter the Temple to be sealed to you until they receive their own endowment which won't come until they are married in the Temple or go on a mission. It's rare that the church will give permission to an 18 year old to receive their endowment for the purpose of being sealed to a parent. Under 18 is no problem if permission is given from the other parent.

Brother Dorsey,

You are correct. Once the child is an adult, 18, they must be endowed to enter areas of the temple other than baptisms for the dead. It will all depend on their worthiness and getting endowed before they can be sealed to you, if 18. Once 18 do not need biological parents permission.

Wow I did not know that and I am sure my friend does not as well. What happens then if this child can not go on a mission will they have to wait till they get married then get sealed to them? What happens if they go inactive as well? I have never really thought about all this I just thought turn 18 get sealed.
