Guest lt Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 I realize we are all different religions, however I will ask any ways.... When your world feels empty, you feel spiritually low and are looking for the strength to pull you out, What favorite hymn or scripture helps you to keep pushing forward? I like the hymn: Where Can I Turn For Peace, and my favorite scripture is Ps. 29: 11 11 The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace. Anyone else...... Quote
Guest Starsky Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 I love all the hymns. I prefer the songs done by 'soft' toned quartets. I also love the 'Where do I turn for Peace'... I like to take walks, talk to up-lifting people....people who have a soft spirit about them...people like Tao and yourself... :) Quote
Maureen Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 LaurelTree - I like this KJV scripture:Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. (Matthew 11:28-30)M. Quote
Jenda Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 The hymn that always helps me through the low times, the times I struggle, is "How Gentle God's Command". How gentle God’s command, How kind His precepts are! Come, cast your burdens on the Lord, And trust His constant care. His bounty will provide, His saints securely dwell; That hand which bears creation up Will guard His children well. Why should this anxious load Press down your weary mind? Oh, seek your Heavenly Father’s throne, And peace and comfort find. His goodness stands approved, Unchanged from day to day; I’ll drop my burden at His feet, And bear a song away. I like the scripture Maureen chose, it is one that I think of often in trying times. And it goes along with the hymn I like, too. B) Matthew 11:29, 30 IV 29 Then spake Jesus, saying, Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 30 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest unto your souls; for my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Lindy Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 "Where Can I Turn For Peace" is also one of my favorite hymns...I love to just read the lyrics.... "I Stand All Amazed" is one hymn that I repeat over and over in my mind when I am reallllly having a bad day. It makes me feel better I also turn to some of the old threads....or I used to before they were all deleted.......and just read some of the uplifting words of scriptures, and faith from some of my favorite posters of yore. Friends....both LDS and non LDS have helped me through some rough times....just by being there...being themselves, I gain strength from them wether they know it or not. :) Quote
