Why would you insist I not say "because the bishop is called by god"? Seems if you assumed thats the answer I'd give you then perhaps you already know the answer to your question friend. Did you just hear a still small voice by chance?

I think you may have gone too far with this Andrew. No "judge in isreal" ie Bishop, judges "as if they were God", but instead judge "as stewards of Christ" and as faithful servants. As one who has made many......many trips to the Bishop's office I can attest that not once have I been judged, but rather counciled and guided in a way that will prevent a future negitive judgement from the Lord. The only "judgement" call made by the bishop, and under the direction of the Holy Spirit, was weather or not the process I went through was complete or not. Under the influence of and guidence of the Spirit, the bishop is able to judge or discern a man's heart.

Also, just something to think about for all you crazy kids out there wanting to "make out"... When you kiss someone, you're just putting your mouth on the sweet end of about 28 feet of intestine. Something to ponder.

What?!? In my experience the girls were just as "urged" as the boys. I had to beat them away with a stick!!

Maybe men are not messing up more now'a'days, but perhaps its just that women are nagging more often about the stuff that's been going on for generations? Now then, can we all just get back to watching the game? And for cryin in the beer could someone PLEASE refill the chip bowl and grab me a caffeen free soda. *This statement may or may not represent the views, beliefs, or opinions of the individual who gave it

According to one, religion is the opium of the people.

Really? Who was here before Adam? And lets not go down the Darwanian trail. After all we can all see for ourselves that Darwin's theory has enough to show intraspecies mutations and adaptations, but has just above zero evidence or data to support interspecies evolution...ie monkey to man, or mouse to hippo. So who was here before the "first" man?

Dude, you stole my answer! haha^_^

Really? Really? So why dont we hear some swearing from scholors and scientists in their speaches and reports? Why doesnt the President swear in his addresses? Swearing was "invented" to try to fill the void for lack of articulation. Much in the same way spanking fills the void of lesson teaching dicipline. Think about what you said above, "I swear like a truck driver." Much like the Geico cave man, truck drivers are not usually sterieo typed for being super intelligent or silver tongued individuals. I mean, no one ever coined the phrase "swears like a scientist" or "cusses like a heart surgen" Think about it, when you're so mad or scared that you dont know what to say, or when you're shootin the bull with your drinkin buddies...you swear.....and when your kid has done something so bad you dont know how to deal with it, or you're just plain mad at them, you spank their little bum in lou of an alternate form of dicipline. Im not saying that a swear word or a good old fashoned spanking are never acceptable...Im just saying that they dont really add to the calibur of the situation or the person employing their use. If people want to swear, more power to them...just dont pretend it elevates your communication skills or substitutes for more clever phrases.

have you read the book of mormon? because if you do you will notice how a lot of the books are began with the writer speaking about how the Lord is inspireing them on what to write and what not to write about. the book of mormon was written in the same way the bible was. the difference is that the book of mormon was written in the old days but for us in the latter days. it is the other branch. both books are required. the bible doesnt have all the answers and neither does the book of mormon. but together they do have the entire gospel of Christ.
-
Um the Book of Mormon as well as the Bible were both written by man...or more correctly, "men", namely Prophets, Seers, and Revelators. However, the Book of Mormon has one advantage over the Bible in that the Bible has been translated again and again and again by many many people. And each time stuff was left out or changed. We know this for a fact by many of those who were doing the translating own account. The Book of Mormon was translated from original language into English by one single man. What? You thought Joe Smith wrote the book? Oh heavens no. He translated it. Thank you. Im here all week

Matthew 7: 20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. What are the fruits of the FLDS "church" today and what are the fruits of the LDS church? By these you will know.

Where did Hetheprimate say that? I believe he/she said that one can swear and still have a strong testimony. Hetheprimate was trying to get accross that even the most wicked of us may have a testimony of the truthfullness of the gospel....just ask Lucifer, Im sure he wont tell you the gospel is true, but try and get him to deny the Christ is the only begotton of the Father. Swearing is what one does when they are not articulate or intelligent to say or express how they feel and so substitue the verbal void with a primitive and vulgar utterance.

The fact that you used "Americans" "wimp" and "WWII" in one sentence exposes your ignorance to history and foriegn affairs. But the fact that you see "mere thousands" as unimportant and a non-issue simply because we're not loosing 10,000 lives a day like in the past is just sad and I extend my pity to you. We loose less lives now because our training and weapons are better. If we were still losing the lives we were then, now.....then you'd have something. What you're saying ammounts to this..."If only one or two of your family is murdered by a burglar whats the big deal? Why call the police? Its not like you're whole family except for you was killed or anything." What # of lives lost should we make the standard for war? Should terrorists be allowed to kill 100,000 before we take action? One million? What if it was only 5...and those five were your mother, father, spouse, and one your children, and an old lady across the street? Would you still have your current opinion?

Quotes from J. Golden Kimball: "Cut me off from the church? They can't do that! I repent too damn fast." "I may not walk the straight and the narrow, but I sure in hell try to cross it as often as I can!" "There are not enough general authorities to do all the thinking for the membership of the church." "I love all of the brethren, but I love some a hell of a lot more than I do others." "I don't know how the people of St. George can stand the heat, the Indians, the snakes and the flooding Virgin River. If I had a house in St. George and a house in Hell, I'd rent out the one in St. George and move straight to Hell." "This city (Brigham City) looks like hell. You need to clean things up, mow the grass, paint your houses and barns. And you sisters, you could stand a little paint yourselves." "Young men, always marry a woman from Sanpete County. No matter what hard times you experience together, she has seen worse." "I understand you brethren can't go on missions because you swear too much. You can overcome it. Hell, I did.' ....

When asked if they would still pull the troops out of Iraq even if all their best advisors and generals told them to do so would result in chaos and more death in the middle east both the democrats said they's still pull them out. The Republican candidate spent years as a POW and was offered the chance to go home but stayed in the POW camp because not all the other Americans could leave with him... No one likes war but guess what we dont live in Heaven yet..... if you vote Dem...then I hope you like speaking Arabic and living in a socialist country.

bout time Kona.... Nah Just teasing you. You were always accepted here and wanted....even by the likes of me. Have a great day!

I never said a prophet never had a racist tendency. I am saying that the subject regarding priesthood authority was not based on racisim in the light of prejudice. I agree that they are human with biases predjudices etc etc..... And I believe they can make mistakes. But the Lord promised to never allow a prophet to lead the church astray. Thank you for demonstrating the typical way in which a person takes another's words and ignores them and puts different words in their mouth. Dont worry its cool. Reply soon!

So we're supposed to make believe that God didnt and doesnt make known His will through His chosen prophets in order to make ourselves look "gooder" to outsiders? You know, God's will isnt always popular with man. Like when the Lord told his people to kill everyone including women and children and livestock..... Now, there is a difference between a prophets opinion or beliefe and when he is acting in the name of the Lord. A lot of quotes are of opinion.

The only thing that is unchanging is God. Everything else must change, grow, line upon line. You think the church was not true because the Lord didnt allow blacks to hold the priesthood until a certain date? What about the fact that Jesus's own mission on earth was aimed at the jews? Just because something grows, changes, and improves doesnt mean it wasnt true before. Take the earth itself...it is the only spere we know of that sustains life. Do you think it was always so? We know that the purpose of this earth from its foundation was for us children of God to come and be tested, yet when the earth was first developing it was a dead rock, pounded by other rocks, then it developed a core, then later an atmosphere and oceans and after a long time life was able to inhabit it. Now according to your argument one could say the earth was NOT the "true" earth because it had not always been as it is now. If you want to know "what is true" then I'll tell you the answer. It is that Christ lives. He is the Son of God and he is our advocate to the Father. We are litteral children of God, and for better or worse...that makes me your brother. Mormon rules? Last I heard the LDS church followed the "rules" set down by Christ. Any "rule" given is never more restricting than the laws Christ has established for us to follow. If you can find one that is against the teachings of Christ I would sure like to see it. Oh, and "As God is man may become. As man is God once was".

Reading this thread has reaffirmed a lesson I learned many years ago as a young lad in the mother country; Happy Heather = smiling and beautiful angel... Unhappy Heather = RABID PIT BULL (with a heart of gold) So guys, dont be pickin on Heather or her Mods, cause she will come down on you like a mother bear!! But, if you leave gifts of honey pots and sweet smelling flowers then she will provide you with an excellent site in which to interact with fellow LDS and a fun time will be had by all. *raises glass of kool-aid* TO HEATHER!! -
Well, I went to go to the chat room and spread the good news.....only to discover I've been banned?? I dont have any messages in my inbox and I didnt think I was on any kind of thin ice with anyone. What happened?:(
