  1. How do you know I don't understand the workings of the Godhead? And how do you know that you do? Truth is, you know very little about what I understand and don't understand, my dear fellow. Please refrain from telling me what I understand and don't understand. Neither does my membership in the church, but you felt compelled to ask me. Perhaps for the same reason I asked your age, to get a better sense of what kind of person I am dealing with. Also, you don't seem to notice (or maybe you don't care) that you have employed a non sequitur to support your claim that Jesus can be "busy". Forgive me, but this sort of tactic does not usually come from the well studied apologists I am used to speaking with. I didn't say anything about gospel maturity. Along with non sequitur, I urge you to be aware of the straw man argument as well. Please take a look at the above statement and try and word it better so I can understand it and respond. My purpose right now is to try and dissuade you of this notion that Jesus can be too busy at times.
  2. What does "way too meaty" mean? Too hard to understand, or not worth understanding as much as obeying. Is it still doctrine, if it is way too meaty? I can think of a lot of things prophets and general authorities have said - or even other church leaders - that is not currently accepted as doctrine. What about Brigham Young's Adam-God theory? Or what Joseph Smith and Spencer W Kimball said about the native American's? Or what Joseph said about the Aborigini's? Or what the first presidency has said about the Hill Cumorah?
  3. I find the above post highly suspect of a 49 year old. It is completely void of the kind of reasoning I would expect from an experienced adult. Examples: I have no clue what you are trying to say here. But I suppose you are right about one thing, if I did meet any member of the Godhead, we would be having an entirely different discussion. This is an odd non sequitur to the original statement you made, that Jesus can be too busy to answer prayer promptly. Your anecdote does nothing to support the claim that Jesus, someone who is not bound by the laws of gravity, the space-time continuum, etc... could be "busy". This makes no sense, didn't make any sense when you first wrote it, and you have yet to clear any of it up. The fact is, by definition, Jesus could never be too busy for anything. He is the Christ, remember?
  4. It was brought up in another thread that everything the prophets, general authorities, and church leaders produce is considered official church doctrine. I find this to be contradictory to much of what I have heard in LDS apologetics. Perhaps those that make this claim are unfamiliar with apologetics or objective church history, or maybe more people believe this to be true than I thought. Any one else subscribe to this theory - that everything the prophets, GA's and church leaders say in print or from the pulpit is considered official church doctrine? I'd love to hear more from either side. Best, GoodK
  5. I know the feeling that you describe in the part I bolded... I really do. I have felt both the conviction that I had discovered truth and the sadness that others had not.
  6. I'm sorry, I don't understand the question. What do you mean how? You asked me if I was a member, now I think it would be fair for me to ask you a question. How old are you? So you are saying that the Jesus can be too busy to answer prayers promptly. What on Earth could he be busy with? Isn't being busy a matter of having too many tasks at hand and not enough time? And again, how old are you?
  7. You hold all the cards with this sort of reasoning. If someone gets an answer that the church is true, then they were sincere and honest. If they don't get an answer, they were not sincere and honest and upright enough. Are those really the only possibilities? You don't think you can convince yourself that something is true or that you are feeling something independently?
  8. You can't be serious. You really think the Savior is busy? Why would a Being with his powers ever be busy? I think I am beginning to see the disconnect here.
  9. Hmm there was a post here that is gone now. Weird.
  10. Another example: Person A: I believe this about this.... Person B: I suspect that in your youth, you have not diligently searched the scriptures and the words of the prophets...
