  1. I actually just read Anthem a few nights ago. Easy read. Read it in just one evening. Very well written and interesting. It seems to me that while dismissing the Marxist "We" (which i definitely approve), she takes it to the other/opposite extreme. I'll have to read the other 2 to tell what her philosophy is for sure, though. It almost seems like Nietzsche versus Marx.

  2. True Oregonians love rain. I do.

I LOVE rain (wonder if this has anything to do with my mother being born in Oregon), wish we got more of it in Utah. Oh well, maybe when California drops in the ocean.

  3. This was nice. Thanks!

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir did a version in general conference a few years back. I'm not talking about the one at this most recent April 2008 conference that they did (though it was nice) but one a few years back. If anyone can help me remember which conference that was, i'd really appreciate it.

  4. I am not making assumptions and I am not telling anyone that they should leave. I am asking why they don't, if it is so painful to stay! I made one comment......not necessarily representative of all my feelings... to address the seemingly endless complaining about how awful Utah is -- a place that is my home and the origin of much of my history and a place that I love inspite of its quirks. And I take exception with the word you chose..."can't" leave. Perhaps there are economic or familial circumstances that keep people in a place they dislike. But I still think that such sacrifice, if you want to call it that, is a choice. So.....if that is a person's choice, what good comes from complaining about it? They are making the choice. So own it!

When someone moves to a place ....or perhaps lives in that place for a time and then starts dishing out the criticisms openly, I think it is naive to think that some wouldn't throw out a little push back. After all, Utah IS a place many do call home. I don't think anyone likes their homeland trashed.

And if Utah is so awful, why is the Northern part of the State growing like wildfire and why are the lots getting smaller and smaller and why can't I drive to SLC without being in a traffic jam????

Southern Utah is growing like wildfire, too, and oddly enough everyone moving in seems to be coming from Southern California. I guess they don't want to have to live under water once it drops into the ocean. ;)

  5. Easy on the eyes, hard on the soul.

There is a great song the primary children sing called If the Savior Stood Beside Me. "If the Savior stood beside me, would i do the things i do?" We adults tend to forget this principle sometimes (me especially). If you think the Savior would watch such a movie, by all means go ahead. But as a follower of Christ, i have no business watching anything that i know he would never view.
