  1. Goofball, I seem to have a similar situation. I have offered what I thought was helpful suggestions on different threads and got chewed out for my effort. Now all I do is read them. If I wait long enough someone else usually posts what I would have anyway. It is hard for me as I am leaglly blind and find very difficult to engage in the chat room as they go faster than I can read with my big glasses. Well, I will keep reading as long as they, whoever they are, let me. Take care all
  2. Thanks for the great ideas. I had already planned on dinner with her and dad and my two daughters. I also liked the flowers idea. Thanks again
  3. Tomorrow is Mother's Day. Does anyone have some good ideas? My mom has everything she could want and I am out of ideas. Any ideas out there would be greatly appreciated. Nothing like waiting until the last minute huh!!!
  4. Hi Rachelle, I would like to steer you to your county extension agency. Look it up in your area under the county headings. They can tell you what will grow best in your area and what will not. What will be easy, work wise, and what will produce a lot. I bet they can even tell you about those upside down tomatoes. Jump in and have fun.
  5. I have a cute story about kids and babies. When I was expecting my third the two older ones were already in elementary schoo. Wasn't suposed to have any more according to my doctor. Surprise. As you can guess I didn't have any baby clothes etc. So my mom decided to give me a baby shower. I told the older ones we were going to grandma's house for a baby shower. There were a lot of ladies and we played games and had a real nice time. My mother in law had mad cream puffs for a snack. My mom had bought these decorative and smelly soaps for gifts. My kids hung on me every minute. When we started to break up to leave my oldest daughter said "Wait when are we going to shower the baby". Explain that one before the baby shower.
  6. Count me in. If nothing gets in the way, house falls down, end of the world et al, I will view all sessions of conference
  7. Welcome berean. You are now official, pale said so. lol
  8. Dr. T, I will miss you and your witty post also. Good luck in all you wish to do. Hope to see you aroung sometime. Take care. Bye the way I was wondering if you are really a Dr. or is it a screen name. LOL
  9. Islander, I agree with you. Each of us have to follow the spirit as it guides us. In my case I went the exta step and counciled with my Bishop. I was fully prepared to leave my job when he told me that he didn't think I was doing anything wrong. During these years I held many church callings I attended the temple every week. S served a stake mission when they had stake missions. I served two ward missions and a senior mission. I go to womens conference every year and have for many years. I have even thought of moving to Provo. I have also been to the temple there. My job was just that a job and nothing more. Maxel I hope you keep posting. I enjoy you so much. You have inspired me at times when I needed it. Thanks for your inspriation.
  10. Please excuse the spelling. I have lost a great deal of my eyesight and my fingers don't work well. LOL
  11. Boy, this is a toughie. Before I was converted I entered into a occupation most lds would not. I was a union bartender. I was a single mom of four and i made good money being union. I also had health and retirment benies. When I converted I consulted with my Bishop. We talked very long time. He finally said since I didn't own the place I worked at , that would make a difference he said, then he felt that I was making a living for my family. Thats the wiggle room Maxel was talking about. So if you own a store and sell, amoung other things, alcohol or tobacco then you personally or making a profit from that sell. Your clerk on the otherhand is just making a living. I know that the clerk can make the decision not to work there. As for my family my kids grew up with things I could not have given them on a lesser salary. I am retired now and have a nice pension. A side note. When my co-workers found out that I was LDS they would take turns coming to ask me questions. They would find me at lunch and sit there and ask many questions. They would find me in the parking lot on the way to my car and stop me and ask questions. If you stand firm in what you believe they notice. One young man came across the room straight to me. I keept expection him to turn the cornor, he did not. After getting to my place of work he said ":I didn't know you were from Utah". I said that i was not. I worked at the Mirage in Las Vegas and I was born there and told him so. It's funny that people think all lds people come from Utah.
  12. Sorry, Gwen, about the snow. It did kind of surprised me because I have never seen that happen and I live in an area where it dosen't snow but every 20 years or so. We did get snow this year but they never cancelled anything. I went today and boy am I glad I did. We got a new relief society president, a new yw president and of course councilors oh I forget what all but just think of what I would have missed. We also had a great testimony meeting. Love those testimonys. Have a great day everyone and God Bless
  13. I have an appointment with my Bishop I better go. HE HE
  14. I'll be there
  15. angellynn, please keep up what you are doing. My youngest daughter had gone inactive. She and her family lived in Phoenix. Her vt came every month without fail. She wouldn't answer the door even if she was home. They always brought cookies for the kids and left them on the flower box by the door. Her husband would come home and bring in the cookies and say "your vt were here today" They never stopped even when they thought like you. The long ans short is they didn't stop and now she is active and her kids are in primary. The oldest is in yw. I don't know these women but I think God every day they didn't stop visiting. They did eventually get in. Please keep it up. She is someones daughter and you may never know the outcome in this life.
  16. Go Arizona!!!!! Steelers are going down. Kurt and the boys will bring it home
  17. We used to have D & D clubs in Las Vegas. They may still hae I just don't live there anymore. Once a month we all got together and played. We kept it clean. Instead of getting dark we tended to go Star Treky. We had a good time. I also like rpg on the puter. Anyone heard of a interesting new rpg lately.
  18. Hi Ceeboo, I just wanted to take the time to tell you I have enjoyed your posts. I am new and I don't even know how to post. I guess you have explained why I can't find some posts that I have read before. Oh well, guess I'll get over it. Please take care of yourself and I hope to see you again soon.
  19. Lm mentioned the interview between President Hinkley and Larry King. I have it on tape. When asked about caffine President Hinkley replied that we believed in not consuming any caffine. Now does this mean that every member follows this to the letter, no. I myself struggle with chocolate. My thought on the subject is if you believe that he was a Prophet then you have no choice but to follow his council. If you do not believe he was a Prophet then it doesn't matter what he said. I also believe that if ;you do believe he was a Prophet then you cannot pick and choose what you want to follow. Thats just my way of looking at the situation.
  20. Most states have family history links on their home page. For instance, while looking for some of my familyI came to find they had settled in Missouri. Going to that states home page then the family history link I left a message. Within twenty four hours I had credible infor back to the revolunatary war. I also was able to track down a cousin living in the small town I live in. I believe 29,000 to be small. Follow the spirit where it leads you would be surprised what will turn up.
  21. When I first started some 10 years ago I found a distant cousin in the northwest. I asked him about paying for some of these sites. He said not to because there are, and he was right, sites with the same info and you do not have to pay. It takes some searching but can be done. Do you have a computer? If you do the offical church web site has a lot of info available and in some cases can fill in vacant realtives. I would help if you want. I am sure there are others here that have done this as much as I and can help also. Start with the Church Web Site. Duh Of course you have a computer.

    Arizona!!!

I enjoyed your pics. I see these and more everyday. You should see Sodona. It is beautiful. These are some of the reasons I still live in Arizona. It really is a beautiful state.
  23. Taking snaks to the movies is like taking eggs and bacon to the IHOP and asking the cook to make your breakfast. I can't say that I didn't ever bring snaks. I was young once. LOL
  24. I am a convert and I didn't know that people thought less than kind of us. On one summer day my Aunt and I had gone to the mountains to see a display of "Mountain Men" shooting. They were dressed in skins and caps. There was food and shooting. All had a good time. On the way home my Aunt, whom I loved dearly, said don't tell your cousin Howard that you are Mormon. Shocked I asked why and she told me that they don't believe in Christ. I was speechless. Finding my tongue I told her of course we do. She said we didn't, but we were just told to say that. She has been gone for years now but I still can remember the shock I felt that day. I still can't believe people believe and say the things they do and not know any better
