  1. I really cannot agree with this. She is not a teenage daughter, you cannot control her. She does not need access to anyone elses money but that's the limit of the amount of control you can inflict on her. Any money that she has earnt she needs access to and putting filters on the computers is far too excessive. And telling her she is not allowed to divorce is very silly - what do you think she'll go and do to prove that she has as much right to divorce as anyone else?
  2. Lol. I would not want to be the one to suggest any company or organisation roll out linux for the end user. While I appreciate linux and think it's a good operating system (and is particularly useful for many servers) the cost of training the staff, coping with the complaints about how the system was much better the way it was before and finding alternative software for the original and often bespoke software that only worked with windows, not to mention porting the data those programs held into the new software just far outweigh the benefits of linux. I don't like microsofts tactics, however I think we are stuck with them being dominant for quite a while yet. It's not like we can do much about it. Anyway, sorry for hijacking the thread
  3. It's an idea, though I don't know how much use it could be. There are members from all over the globe on his forum and while there are a lot of members here, there are not THAT many members - this forum is still considered to be small went put in comparison with a lot of others. I'd hazard a guess and say the vast majority of members here are not within quick travelling distance of another member of this forum unless they know them personally. A possible exception to this is obviously Utah. So for instance any jobs that I know of are unlikely to be of any use to anyone else on this forum as I don't think anyone else lives in Birmingham, UK (though please correct me if I'm wrong). Not to mention the that fact you don't normally come to an LDS forum to look for jobs, with the possible exception of church related jobs. just my 2p
  4. I completely agree with this. It's not easy to get a job when you are out of work and it's gets more difficult the longer you are out of work. It sounds like you have some degree of skills with system administration, I would strongly suggest you find someone who will take you on a voluntary basis in that capicity, if they won't employ you. Firstly, voluntary work can lead on to employment by that company. Secondly, you can use it to learn new skills. Third, it looks really good on a CV (resume as you call it). Now I don't live in Canada, so don't know what the situation is there, but if it's anything like the UK, the canadian equivilant of primary schools are usually desperate for IT support but cannot afford it anywhere near as much as they'd like. Usually a teacher gets landed with the job who knows a little bit about computers so can fix things like adding a printer or changing toners, but doesn't really know how a network operates or how to fix the more difficult problems. The chances are one or more of them will jump at the chance of a volunteer to help them with this job especially if it's someone who actually has a clue what they are talking about. And if they like you, they may well take you on in a paid position. I know this because I've worked in primary schools as IT support in the past. I had to be split between two basically so they could share the cost. Good luck!
  5. Money is a burden. Let me relieve you of that burden
  6. I can sympathise with you probably more than most on this board, anotherbrick. I also have aspergers syndrome. For those who don't know what it is, it's mainly a lack of social skills. They learn social skills intellectually rather that intuitively. Mentally there is nothing unusual. People with aspergers syndrome are often of above average intelligence and often excel in their career. Albert Einstein himself had aspergers as well as Isaac Newton. They also have a primary area of interest, and they tend to become obsessed with this interest to the extent they often excel in it. Mine happens to be I.T (I work as an I.T technician as well). The reason for this is because it replaces interaction with other people as interaction is difficult for us. Other common "primary areas of interest" include music and science. None of them involve socialising. As for the mission, I did serve one, but came home after 10 months. I served a service mission, but, as is a common trait with aspergers, I had difficultly accepting rules that I didn't agree with. It didn't cause much of a problem with other people and certainly no arguments, but it bothered me to the extent that ended up coming home. Plus I have difficultly with the idea of being banned from anything to do with technology due it being my "primary area of interest" (see above), I struggled with this more than a so called "normal" person would. Do I get discriminated against? Of course. But I don't really care that much about it either though. People don't understand the condition until they have had it. People say I am addicted to computers and technology which is why I ended up coming home... the symptoms are very similar, yes, but it's not an addiction. You can overcome an addiction, you cannot overcome aspergers syndrome. Plus, due to my so called "addiction" I now have a job which I really enjoy and effectively get paid to do what I enjoy doing. So it's not entirely a bad thing. People at church also come to me to fix their home computers and sometimes I get more money out of it if they insist on paying me (I usually don't accept payment). So make the most of what you have and stop worrying about what you don't.
  7. This is for those who have listened to the original song "the boy does nothing" by Alesha Dixon. If you haven't heard it, listen to it on the youtube link below: YouTube - Alesha Dixon - The Boy Does Nothing *Full* & Lyrics Right, now the parody. The above song is basically a woman having a go at a guy for doing nothing. Below is the guys response: YouTube - Adrian Dixon - The Boy Does Plenty - Chris Moyles Show Parody All you men out there will understand :) EDIT: For the non-British folks, I forgot to mention "bird" is British slang for a woman.
  8. Just kidding... you really thought that was spam then didn't you? I'm James, I'm lds (albeit only half active at best). I'm 22, I live in the UK and right now I'm fairly bored (I work in a college so I get the christmas holidays :) ) hence my apperance on this forum. What else can I say?
