  1. And made another government holiday...........
  2. I visited the family research library also, but my brain started hurting so I left quickly.
  3. I had a chance to go to SLC for the first time yesterday. I went to Temple Square and was shown around by 2 sister missionaries. I have to say I was totally flabbergasted by the amount of time and effort put into this place. My last stop on the tour was the Christos, it was awesome! The feeling of the place gave me goosebumps. My young tour guides did an excellent job. I can't wait until I can go again.
  4. Irena won my Noble person who did something so selfless that she makes the rest of humanity look like pond scum peace prize. Take that Mr. Gore.
  5. It's about time!! Those stingy Californians have been hogging all the good weather for far too long.
  6. Of course, a Tapir:confused: I don't think we have such a noble beast up here in Canada
  7. I'm reading the first book in the series and I can't put it down! Good thing I purchased the next two. Great book.
  8. That is a beautiful story, he was hot as a pistol. Awesome
  9. If Mr. Raines says he can leg press 2200 Kg then I believe him. I didn't want to come across as a metric snob.
  10. Being Canadian i'm kinda familiar with the metric system so I just wanted to point out that 1000 lbs is actually 454 Kg. Which is still very impressive. 2,200 Kg is 4,850 lbs. Online Conversion - Common Weight and Mass Conversions
  11. Amen to that Chaplain, thank you for that post.
  12. Amen to that! what a great post Justice, thank you very much.
  13. I was brought up beleiving that all I needed for my salvation was a relationship with Jesus and I held fast to that doctrine. It was just when I started investigating the LDS church that I found out the churches stance on works as well, Repentance, baptism and covenants came into play. At first I had a hard time accepting the "LDS works", I even had an evangical friend of mine tell me that anyone who believes the 10 commandments are still in effect after the sacrifice of Jesus Christ will be judged according to them. ( so I geuss he meant that after Jesus's sacrifice the 10 commandments are moot and people who just call on Jesus won't be judged according to them?) Yeah he said that. But once I started discussing this more with the missionaries it made sense that one must actually endure to the end by following the doctrines and commandments of Heavenly Father. But I still feel conflicted with this doctrine and the evangical doctrine as it was my faith for a long time. And that is why I started this thread, I'm still looking for answers.
  14. Actually my family came from Hellerud. Also, all that food sounds delicious:)
  15. Some of the other (non-LDS) churches I have attended in my life teach that the only thing needed for salvation is a relationship with Jesus Christ. Through Christ and Christ alone we are saved. I would like to know what the LDS take is on this. Thank you all for your time. PS I'm not trolling and trying to start fireworks, I am an investigator who has attended LDS services and really would like to know the LDS side of this.
  16. Thanks for the welcome folks, and glad to meet you all. Maya, my family is originally from Norway, my grandmother and grandfather came to Canada from a small town outside Oslo, so I love lutefisk lol
  17. Just a note to introduce myself, I'm from western Canada and I've called myself a Christian for 20 some years. I began investigating the LDS church recently and have embraced some of the doctrine while still struggling with some others. I have attended church twice so far and was very impressed with the people, I have never seen such faith in any other church I have attended. So I'm just rolling along trying to learn as much as I can and hope to learn more during my stay at this site. Thanks for your time.
