  1. Hi everyone. Someone told me that Isaiah 43:10 refutes that man can become gods. Is this true? Isa 43:10 KJV Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.
  2. Hi everyone. How does one refute the idea of apostolic succession? A friend of mine said that Paul and other disciples ordained other men such as St. Ignatius and then St. Ignatius in turn ordained others. How is one to respond to such claims of apostolic succession? Is it not in direct conflict with the Great Apostasy?
  3. I will. :) I hope you wre able to talk with him or at least made an appt to see him this week.... I was able to talk with him today. He did not punish me for my sins and instead he just gave me advice and told me to come back to him if my sins bother me again. He also admonished me to not offer prayers in public until I have my sins under control which will probably be within the next few months according to him. Anyway, thanks everyone! I'm just glad it went well!
  4. Thank you everyone. I did some searching and found the answer at a Mormon apologetics website. Thanks again!
  5. Hi everyone. Somebody told me that the Book of Mormon describes bees in ancient times in the Book of Mormon like in BC times but yet bees were not introduced to the Americas until the 1500s by the Spanish. What is up with that? How do I refute this argument?
  6. The "Gospel of Thomas" is just another example of evidence of the Great Apostasy if you ask me.
  7. go and talk with him....you don't know whats going to happen.... :) I plan to go talk with him in the morning if he has time. If not, I'll set up an appointment with him.
  8. Thank you all for your replies. I plan to talk to the bishop tomorrow, preferably before Sacrament Meeting. I hope that I am not disfellowshipped for my sins but if I am, I will do what I have to do to be in full communion with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints again.
  9. One has to wonder why you are asking these questions. I remember in one of John Bytheway's talks to the youth he mentions how some youth ask what the "limit" is before they get in trouble for what ever it is that they are testing the limits on. He said it's as if they are asking how "bad" they can be so that they can "operate" right up next to the line. Of course this don't apply to the youth only. Sometimes I feel like I get too close to the line myself. But with that said, it's different in different cases. The Bishop is the one to make such decisions. If you have some concerns about someone you know and care about I would suggest you have a talk with him and tell him your concerns. He's very good about keeping confidences. He is your friend. Thanks for answering my post. My reason for asking these questions is because I am afraid I may be disfellowshipped for sins I committed while I was away from the Church.
  10. Hi everyone. I have some questions about disfellowshipping. I hope you all can help me understand it better. Would someone with less experience with the Church be more likely or less likely to be disfellowshipped? How does one get forgiven if they are disfellowshipped? How does one come back into full communion with the Church? What are some serious sins that would result in disfellowshipping? Are there lesser forms of punishment for serious sins than disfellowshipping? If so, what are they?Anyway, that is all the questions that I have for now. Any help in answering these questions will be greatly appreciated.
  11. Thank you all for your advice. I will definitely heed it and probably will talk to the bishop before partaking of the sacrament again. As for how long I've been away, its only been about 2 or 3 months.
  12. Hi everyone. I am considering coming back to the LDS Church. I, however, have committed the serious sin of apostasy. Must I confess this sin to the bishop before receiving communion again?
  13. Thank you everyone for your posts. My doubts about this have been eliminated.
  14. When I became a member of the LDS church, I was given a copy of the Biblbe and Doctrine and Covenants, Pearl of Great Price, and the Book of Mormon. I was told that the Bible was the Joseph Smith translation.
  15. Why does the Word of Wisdom forbid us to drink alcohol when in the New Testament, wine was recommended to Timothy because of his stomach problems? 1 Timothy 5:23 KJV Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.
  16. Thank you for your expressions. I am so impressed to have the opportunity to hear someone declare their covenant to be a Saint of G-d – a light to the world. Not so much by interpretation of fine points of doctrine but by living with love and compassion for others. Welcome to the house hold of G-d. The Traveler You're welcome. :) Thank you. I did sign up for the home teachers. They will come at least once a month to teach me.
  17. I've already done that. I have a question though. If I quit going to church for a period of time, will someone like the bishop or somebody call me to check in? I am just wondering because that is one thing I would really like. I might get depressed or something and stop going and need someone to check in on me to see how things are going and make sure everything is okay.
  18. I agree with what has been already said. This man acted selfishly and irresponsibly. He put others lives at risk for his own gain. He deserves to be criminally prosecuted.
  19. Well, it seems that my family is already accepting of my choice. My Mom is curious about the church and is more interested in it and stuff than I expected. My Dad thinks its a cult but he is happy that I have found a church I will stay with.
  20. For those of you who are curious, I was baptized in the baptismal font at my local church. I tell you what, it feels so great to be baptized. I feel so new! Its really an amazing feeling!
  21. Well I am officially a Mormon now! I was baptized today (July 1st) at church. It was so awesome! It is great o be free from all my previous sins and to be in a covenant with Jesus! Praise God forever!
  22. I already live by myself and no my bishop does not know about this. I will be telling him about it though.
  23. Hey if you all would please pray for me, I'd really appreciate it. I have prayed about this and could probably use all the prayers I can get.
