  1. I drove a 99 GMC Suburban until the transmission went out a few months ago. I didn't have the money to fix it, so I started driving one of my husband's old 85 Ford Trucks. My mother said it was getting cold and at the time, gas was outrageous, so she borrowed $1000 and bought me an older 95 Pontiac Grand Am to drive until I get my Suburban fixed (which will probably be income tax return time because it was going to be a couple of thousand to fix.) The Bishop found out I still didn't have a vehicle to get everyone back and forth to church (without having to make 2 trips or have someone pick some kids up) and the Bishop's daughter was getting a newer van, so she gave me her old 94 Chevrolet Astro. You should see our driveway!
  2. I was thinking about that and then wondered if your dad had dropped that bat in a carpeted room? I was picturing Relief Society with a bunch of women talking and then a bat dropped on a carpeted floor. I don't think anyone would hear it. I don't know about the Elder's Quorum though. Do men talk as much as women? :)
  3. O.k. I am trying again. I posted a couple of days ago and I have never seen the post. I love researching my family history. My dad got me interested in it when I was 8. He showed me how to fill out the different forms. The internet has been wonderful in helping me find people. I really got hooked in 2000. My dad and I would email one another when we would find something interesting. We were able to connect to so many ancestors. I put it on hold for a while when my dad died, but then I felt so bad that It was in boxes and realized everything my dad and I had done was not going further because I didn't have anyone to share it with. I pulled everything back out and I have started doing research again. I love all of the different web sites that offer family trees and such. I wish Ancestor.com was free because I love the census records they have. Anyway, if anyone has any good family history websites, please post them. I have a few such as Roots Web and the church site. I can't search like I would like to because I have several children at home, but I do put in at least an hour or 2 a week. I see my oldest child is becoming interested in it. I can't wait for him to be old enough to join me in my search.
  4. I love doing family history. I get so much enjoyment out of it. I have found so many ancestors in the last 8 I have been working on it. I started working on it with my dad and then he passed away and it wasn't as fun as it had been. We had fun sharing what we had found. I took a break for a few years and then I realized a few months ago that I needed to continue, not just because I missed it, but my dad would be disappointed if I didn't continue what we had started. I am glad my dad had us filling out group records when I was like 8 years old. It was exciting to me at that age. He had us a nice little notebook put together when we were young. The internet has really helped me in continuing looking for ancestors. I have several children at home and it's difficult to get out to libraries- even the church family history library - because of the kids. I usually take an hour or 2 every week to research different lines of my family. I have found several free website to look for links. I wish Ancestor.com wasn't a pay service. I love looking at their census records. My 2 oldest are old enough to do baptisms and I just enjoy being able for them to do baptisms for our family. It's such a nice feeling.
  5. Why not? I want to hear about the good as well as the bad. Knowing we are imperfect is reality. My struggles have made me stronger and I am sure many more can say the same. Granted you may not feel too strong as you are struggling, but as I think back, I wouldn't have changed anything if I had the chance.
  6. Yed, He died doing what he loved best...helping Harry Potter. He was actually saving his life at the time. I just loved his character. He was the cutest thing with those big eyes.

  8. I'm done. My oldest son is working on it. Oh, I am editing this to add this sentence.... don't read the rest of my post if you haven't finished the book. I don't want to spoil this for anyone. I have questions...What happened to Neville's grandma. She is so proud of him now. It could have been nice to see her acknowledge him in front of everyone. What about Ted Lupin? I know it said he ate at Harry's house a lot, but who raised him? All and all, it was a great book. I love how Kreacher did a big turn around. Oh, and Dudley saying something nice about Harry and meaning it. I hated to see Dobby die. That was so sad. Who would have guessed that Snape was so in love with Lilly and that was the big secret in why Dumbledore trusted him. I could go on and on.
  9. I have enjoyed all of the books as well as the movies. I always wish they would have add more things to the movie that I enjoy in the books, but they would probably have to make a mini series to make me happy. I enjoyed this last movie. I wish they wouldn't have made Cho the one who gave up the room of requirement, but I understand. They would have had to add another actress to the plot and gave her speaking parts, etc. I hope when they make the 6th movie, they show Dobby a lot more. I love Dobby. I also hope the beginning start off at the Dursley's where Dumbledore is trying to find out if Kreacher is really Harry's now that Sirius is gone. Just thinking about that little elf throwing himself on the floor having a fit is making me laugh.
  10. I love burgers. I have to have one at least once a week for dinner. Cooked on a grill are my favorite. All this talk about burgers and pizza is making me hungry. Please don't start a subject on chocolate. I am trying to say no to chocolate. It's my weakness. My husband came home this week with a huge bag of Hershey's Nuggets. I wish I could have hid them from myself. Anyway, why is it as a child, I wanted cheese on my burgers, but I don't like cheese on my burgers now. It's funny how your taste changes.
  11. Teen Confesses To Fake Murder In Crank Call CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - A Clarksville teenager's fake murder confession sent authorities scrambling for hours. The 13-year-old thought it would be funny to confess to a murder that never happened. He used a cell phone to place a prank call to a missionary training center in Provo, Utah. The call was so disturbing those on the other end knew they had to find the child. Police believe the teenager intended to call that particular number. "Hi, this is Jared, thank you for calling for your free Book of Mormon from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints," answered a worker at a missionary training center on the campus of Brigham Young University. Clarksville police said the teen knew exactly what he was doing. "He gave a name. It wasn't his correct name, well, the last name was correct, not the first name," said Clarksville Sgt. Cheryl Anderson. The teenager told one lie after another. "I wanted to talk to somebody and tell them my mother died and I really need God in my life right now," the 13-year-old said during the phone call. "I shot my mom." "Don't call the cops," the young caller said. The call turned out to be a big joke, but Clarksville police were not laughing. "No, no," Anderson said. "There were a lot of resources used thinking we had another homicide. You have officers, detectives searching for something that didn't occur." It took nearly eight hours to track down the prankster. He made the call from a pre-paid cell phone. The teenager lied about his name, age and where he lived. He said he lived on Evans Road, but there's an Evans Road in Clarksville and in other cities in Middle Tennessee. Police said the teenager's mother was alive and well. http://www.newschannel5.com/Global/story.asp?S=6777687 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is so sad. When I was young, I would have never dreamed of doing anything like this. When I was a kid I was afraid to step on a crack (because everyone said you would break your mother's back! :) ) You know the saying about not joking about something because it might come true. People around here are wondering if this kid is a member.
  12. O.k. so what about those who just order a cheese pizza? :)
  13. Commodore 64. I think that sounds right. Then an IBM PC. They were actually hand me downs from my dad. I remember no information on the hard drive and stuff. I thought it was a big deal when printers went from the roll paper to the single sheets.
  14. TS = Top Secret SCI = Special Compartmented Intelligence SI = Signals Intelligence (my mom worked for the Army C of E)
  15. Thinking the same thing! You don't even need to go to the border. In several states, there is only the need to look at construction sites, and you will see tons of of those aliens working here!
